Depending on the wheel base an 8 ft deck looks tidy and neat.

For hauling a slightly longer deck would be ok.

All weather treated 2 x 6, might be spruce? I found that it was a waste of time using untreated, the extra cost is well worth it.

Treated lumber and steel don't mix too well, makes steel rust really bad..

The steel on my deck is painted, after 3-5 yrs it`s holding up well.

I had to remove a couple of boards this spring, they are pretty much like new. The 56 is mostly stored inside but with watering trees the deck does get wet.

I think that all weather wood is pricey enough and it does stand up well. I`m not after a show truck look, the rest of the 56 is original.
