Well, if your odds are one in tens of millions, is it that much worse if 2x the people buy tickets? Your odds of SHARING the jackpot go up, but your odds of winning don't go down. Plus for LottoMax, when they have those "maxmillions" , your odds of winning a large prize is higher than when they don't.
I play the lotto very occasionally, but when lottomax is at it's highest jackpot (these days I think 70 million?) AND they have at least 20 maxmillions to be awarded, I buy with a group of friends. The thinking is that you have 21 chances of winning a big prize.
The only "smart" way to play the lottery is not at all, but I feel like I get some entertainment value out of playing once in a while, and this method at least gives me the joy of chatting with my buddies about how we'd spend the money.
My wife buys tickets weekly. I told her every time she buys a ticket she should put that much money away as well. I bet in the long run she would be further ahead. We have a pool at work. About a dozen of us. We put in a toonie a week. Our big win with our tickets was $1395.00. We took our ticket into Edmonton and got our check, before we left some guy came in with a $10,000.00 scratch ticket.
I was lucky to have won $20 yesterday on the lotto max. And went test driving a 2019 350. Any good dealers in Calgary or Edmonton that anyone knows of or should stay away from?
Thanks for the info guys I will go check it out next time I am in the area. Only two dealers here in Lethbridge so not a lot of competition, and of course the salesman says " I had a guy from Calgary come down and buy one here because it was cheaper". I love some of these BS stories.
