8th Gen T170/4SOD to ZF5 swap

8th Gen T170/4SOD to ZF5 swap
I have an 87 302 F150 2WD with a tremec 4 speed overdrive. I was originally planning on doing an NP435 swap but I'm starting to consider a ZF5 swap. As far as I know, if I find a 2wd NP with the right extension, it should be a straight swap using my bellhousing and driveshaft.
When searching for ZF swaps, it seems like all of the writeups are from an E4OD. What would I need to consider buying to put a ZF from an F250 into my 4 Speed 8th gen? As far as I know, it would be a clutch, and maybe a driveshaft? If someone could fill me in I would greatly appreciate it.

The ZF is an integral bell, so be sure you get the right pattern for your motor.
Is there some reason you want the ZF? I know it's the better trans, but you can also find the Mazda 5 speed as OEM behind your motor.
You might be looking at a cross member too.
The clutch could remain the same if it is compatible with the throw out set up on the ZF. You are probably looking at a different slave cylinder on the juice clutch. I think the SBF pattern ZF uses an internal slave like the M5OD.
The drive shaft from the 250 won't work with your rear axle but take it anyway so you can have a shop marry the two shafts.
Check the speedo drive situation. Later ZF transmissions don't have a speedo drive iirc.
I'm missing something. I think someone here reported this as a bolt in but I can't find it.

That being said, I am under the impression that the 302's bellhousings didn't change, so as long as I get a ZF from a 302 F250 I imagined I would be alright. Is this true?
I'm more than happy to hear additional info, but I think I'm going to stick with an NP for the time being and just not go too fast. My rear end is a 3.55 so I can't really go faster than 60 for long periods without revving it out too long.

I did the same swap. You will need a 88-91 2wd ZF from a 300/302/351 truck (ideally part number 1307-050-012, but you can get one that is marked 1307-050-039 if you swap the speedo drive gear from 8t to 7t), an internal slave cylinder, release bearing, clutch hydraulic line from master to slave, the tunnel cover (see pictures), transmission crossmember and support brackets, transmission mount, custom driveshaft (front half from ZF truck, rear half from your truck). I used the original clutch and pressure plate. The carpet won't fit quite right over the new tunnel cover, and hole for the shift boot doesn't match the ZF shift boot. I made a shift lever that fits the original shift boot from the T170.
Here is a link to a few photos of the swap: https://www.ford-trucks.com/g/album/827379

So I can use any clutch? The ZF has the same input shaft splines?
Your setup, please correct if wrong, is 302 -> 302 flywheel -> F150 T170 clutch/Press Plate -> ZF -> custom driveshaft?

Yes, I pretty much unbolted the T170 and bolted on the ZF on the engine side of things. I did remove and check the clutch condition, but it went right back on. It's a standard 10-spline input shaft.
