1978 Ford F-150 Ranger

So last weekend I bought this F150 Ranger I'd been looking at as a DD / Project. I kind of overpaid, but overall I'm happy with the purchase. It's running a 460, just not the original one. I'm going to replace the gauge cluster for sure, the tailgate hinges need to be replaced, window tracks need to be reset, not too much rust. I'm definitely ordering a wood bed kit and a retro sound stereo. I paid 3k for it. I know that was too much, but what do y'all think?

So glad I'm in the dry southwest where that rust stuff is minimal. Have fun with your build! Looks like a decent canvas.

Thanks! Yeah, the rust worries me. What are my options as far as repairing it? I know I could cut the metal out and weld a plate in there to be painted or sand down the rust and use fiberglass.. Any other options?

I'm planning to work on the problem spots before any mechanical work since it runs strong. I'm thinking vinyl floors and I want to fix the bed if it's worth the effort

Nice project have fun. They do not make a wood bed kit like for a short bed/flareside. But you can make one...

Honestly since I'm not planning a full on restoration, a homemade wood bed would probably look better

JordJace,
By chance do you want to sell the aluminum bed rails? I'm looking for a set.

I mean, wood is easier to fix/replace than metal.
