Question Bolt pattern conversion

I have a 1990 F-250 4x4. I am sick of looking at the 16x6 stock wheels. Knowing that Ford changed the bolt patterns sometime in the late 1990's, does anyone know if you can R&R hubs and axels from a late model truck in order to run the new wheels?

I have a 1990 F250 with 8 bolt pattern. I purchased 2001, Expedition wheels and had them drilled and inserted to fit the older pattern. You have to have the center hole opened up and use aftermarket center caps. I paid $120.00 for 4 wheels, then $65.00 to have them redrilled, inserted and the center holes opened up. Ctr caps were $50.00 and deep lugs $1.00 each times 32. Total cost is a little under $300.00. Call around to wheels shops and search out the best price as they can vary greatly. Do you home work before you jump in, otherwise some one not shopping could pay over $400.00 easily. The other thing you may want to try is Blemished wheels from companies like, American Wheels. Sometimes there are very small flaws which deams them less than retail items. E-mail these companies. Good luck.

Is there some reason you need to stay with Ford factory wheels? There must be at least 100 different aftermarket wheels available that will fit your truck.

There are many other wheels that can be drilled out and inserted. Check with a wheel shop to see if they can help you once you have choosen the style. Lots to consider, mostly clearance and configuration.
