2017 f250 braking while towing
I just got a new f-250 w/6.7 diesel and I plan on towing a 10,000 lb trailer, I got the upgraded trailer hitch so it will pull more weight. I was wondering if anybody has towed much with this big of a trailer how the braking was on it?
I had a Toyota Tundra 2007 with the 5.7 engine and it pulled it fine but the brakes were soft to me even through all the upgrades I did to it.
So how are the brakes towing?
Thanks

If you are asking about tow vehicle brakes while towing with 10k, I don't exactly understand where this question is coming from.
For most states that I know of, any trailers over 3,500 lbs gross weight rating require their own working brakes.
So are you asking about the brake controller and how it works in conjunction with the truck's brakes?......I really hope so.
I don't want to sound preachy, but it just isn't reasonable to rate or compare brakes of vehicles burdened with an extra 10k of weight behind it. Unless of course you are asking about system integration with factory controllers.

What you should do is go into the trailer brake section and adjust the setting. I know there is electric or electric over hydraulic.
Then there is also a setting, if I recall, for low medium or high input.
I'd select a medium setting.
Then there is the gain, 1 to 10. To set the gain, pull the trailer at least 25 mph in a empty parking lot and apply the brakes and stop. See how it feels.
Bottom line is there is a big difference between any toyoda and a Ford. Even a F150 can pull that amount with a 3.5 ecoboost and do a good job of stopping. A F250 with the 6.7 is going to be like nothing for the truck.
One other thing is the stopping. It may not feel like the trailer brakes are working but they are. It is integrating with the truck system to provide a smoother stop, less jerking.
A manual pull of the slider on the TBC should let you know it is working properly.
