79 f150 daily resto issues

Hey guys I bought a 2wd 79 f150 a few months ago and have been slowly bringing it back to life. Ordered new shocks all the way around, Monroe air shocks for the rear, and kyb gr2 for the front. As well as a Monroe steering stabilizer kit. Fixed floor pans, truck bed has been repaired with 1/4 plate steel across length of bed. Oil pressure line to oil gauge replaced Now today I got under truck to see what I had to work with because I will be also taking leaf spring hangers off and fixing a bit of frame rot that was behind them and flipping leaf spring hangers. And I noticed a previous patch job on the outside where the upper shock mount is. Didn't think much about it till I noticed there was no shock there and after further looking I notice the upper shock mount was gone🤔 mind you the rest of the frame is beautiful. Then I looked over and saw where my seat mounts in the back under the truck there isn't much left. So any help would be much appreciated thanks guys This is the truck
Previous patch for shock mount
My hanger repair to be done
Repairs needed for bottom side of seat mount
Floor pans repaired

My cab was in better shape under the seat, but I had to fix the shock mounts. Got mine from 1973-1979 Ford F-Series Truck Rear Upper Shock Mount-Broncograveyard.com. It's been a couple years and there still holding up. Don't know how hard it'll be to find the floor piece. Not many junk yards around where I am. If you can fabricate, you may have to just make you a patch that will hold up. If not, welding is a valuable skill to learn.

And welcome to FTE. Lot of good people here with great experience and knowledge. Post the pics and keep working on it. I'd like to see where you mounted your steering stabilizer if you don't mind.

thanks for the reply and yes there is not much for junkyards around me either so I don't have that option. I have seen the part on bronco graveyard as well and tried looking around for a cheaper solution but no go so I will probably be ordering that part. As for the cab rust, I do weld by profession but looking at it there really is not to weld to in that spot. I had thought about making a heavy duty fiberglass patch.

There are other places to get replacement parts. That just where I got mine, but there may be some one on here who has a cab piece they would part with. It just depends on where they are and how much it would cost to ship. Might be an option.

My long run idea for this truck is to be lowered with wide tires in the back, hi rise intake with 750 cfm carb either e7 heads or 289 heads and an aggressive street cam. It has hooker long tube headers on it now and the exhaust is just going to be 30 inch purple hornies. But before I get to all of that I have to get everything else straightened out.

I understand. Safety first. Then play with it. If I run across any good cabs I'll keep you in mind. I added a front and rear sway bar to mine and the handling difference was very noticeable. Thought about adding the stabilizer. So keep us all up to date on your build. Looking forward to see what you do with it!

Well got the front shocks installed and lowering goodies for the front bout a 4 inch drop had a hickup with passenger side spring, the spring retainer broke so I fabbed up a new part out of some scrap steel. Also when installing steering stabilizer I found out the ubolts supplied in the kit were too small and the nuts didn't fit threads were toasted. 🤔 So anyway I have to get some ubolts from the parts store and the front suspension will be done

Since you a are a welder that floor pan should be replaced with metal. I am also a welder and fabricator as some of my responsibility at work. That floor is a easy fix. Cut all the bad metal out .Make a patch and weld it in. In my opinion fiberglass is not a quality repair. That is a nice looking pickup keep the pics coming

Okay guys got brakes done and shocks done now I got my exhaust ran and there is a cable that goes across tranny crossmember to the trans I think to be a transmission kickdown cable? I have the 3 speed manual trans anyway the exhaust would of sat right on top of it so I put cable on top of exhaust and all was good until I released the clutch which trans was in neutral well much to my surprise it was in rev and won't come back out of reverse as in the shifter won't budge ahhhh

Speedometer cable? Does it go to the rear driver side of the transmission?

it won't be a kick down cable as your transmission is a manual
