BoxLink - what's the big deal?

I've got a short bed F350 with the "BoxLink system" inside the bed - so they are these metal "cleats" about 1/2 way up that can be removed by inserting a metal key. This is in addition to the standard/normal 4 tie downs at each corner of the bed for a total of 8 tie downs.

Ok, they are nice...more ties downs is always a good thing. I don't care that they are removable with a key...I'd never remove them anyway....what's the point of that? But what's the big deal? What am I missing? What is the "Boxlink system".....can it do something else?

Yes, there are a number of different accessories that tie into those spots. The cleats are just the 'freebies' that everyone gets. I don't know what all you can get, but I know you can get ramps that mount there.

These snap right into the slots. They are pretty awesome. I also have some e-track clips with loops as well.

Really?!? I love my E-Track in trailers and have straps already. Without handle they will fit in the wide part of the opening or are they running up and down in where the handle slides into?

I think it is an overhyped feature for most of us. To the average pickup user, its four extra tie downs.

Thanks for this thread. I have this system and had no idea. I get a lot of stuff from Mac's Custom Tie Downs. Looks like they have some of the E Track stuff. They made me some Stainless Steel Ratchet straps for my boat.

The ones that come with the truck are, but you can get metal E-track ones to use also.

Here is a 10 pack (over kill) for $25

You may wanna double check that. I thought mine were plastic too until I took one out and inspected it. It's heavy duty cast metal. Sure feels plastic when you touch it though. They should hold a lot of weight

That's good to know. I have only shortly handled one of my friends from his truck.
