As a kid, I remember eating out at this Valle's steak house. It was a big deal to be able to go to a sit down restaurant. Where this Valle's was is now a retail legal marijuana store. I wonder if today's parents bring their kids there now for a treat on their birthday?
Andersen's split pea soup in Buellton Ca. My parents would always stop there when we would travel up north.
Newer pic
At least they haven't had to spend a lot of money on renovations...lol
It's nice to see an older place be kept up in the mostly original way.
There is a sit down small eating joint here that is still almost exactly as it was in the early 50's. The main thing changed is paint. I wish they would bring back the original natural rock exterior which was painted white around 40 years ago.
Great pics. I'm going to have to go backwards from here, because my "infinite scroll" won't let me get past the 12/18 pics of the lifeguards for some reason. Just stops dead like that's the end of the thread until now. Wondering if anyone answered the question about them being four-wheel drive? Looks like all three visible trucks are, just by looking at the front hubs rather than their ride height.
That '60 and the rest don't look bad either, but I wonder if they all ended up delicately plucked from peril by a claw or bucket.
Same thing in '89 in Oakland. Undamaged cars on intact sections of a destroyed freeway. Do you risk trying to pull them out or just let get wadded up when you demo the mess?
