While not Ford or truck related, I found this interesting...

(issue being discussed is 72 model cars not being able to comply with new for '73 rear bumper and body bracing strength requirements)

****

.. the picture below was of the 72's left over after a 6 mth strike by GM employees at the USA Van Nuys Camaro & Nova assembly plant.. hundreds of partially built vehicles were lined up and crush as mandated laws coming into force meant these cars.. although new.. did not comply to standards needed now the workers were back.... sad....very..

Sad indeed, but the '73 Camaro's didn't have "safety bumpers". '74's were the first, complete restyle to accommodate them.

True, but according to the site I found this, the 73's did have different brackets and attachments built into the body, and was a one-year-only affair, with it's own unique bracket different from the 70-72.

Those weren't the only casualty

AMC design, prototyped and tooled up to build a supercar, the AMX3. They even started selling the complete prototypes, but then the regulations changed and prevented them from selling it. Promising car, beautiful styling, all tooled up and ready to go, nuked by the regulation changes.

What a debacle.

Bummer on those regulations. Tat AMC prototype is amazing.

Wayne, nice job on the assembly line pics! I think they are fascinating to look at
