I had no idea Xpel was that much. I was going to do it, but that doesn't make a bit of economic sense and I am a fanatic about my vehicles.

I have 3M on my motorohome and after 10 years, it is yellowing and fading. Would not recommend....

Yes, but it will require a repaint to the original surface.

Acutally I have priced out the paint.
when I changed out the grill on my wife's new f150 lariat
fx4 she wanted the sports grill over the lariat grill.
I had the bumper repainted to match the grill.
in tuxedo black.
total cost was 125.00 Canadian.
All depend on who you know.

It is nice to know someone when doing auto work. I replaced the box on my truck (8') a few years ago. New take off was white. Primer, base dark highland green, gold tutone, clearcoat urethane, catylist, reducer, hardener and fish eye reducer was close to $800. Plus sanding, prep and final buff, 2 days labor and a couple of hundred to the fellow I had come shoot it for me since my confidence is not that high for doing really nice work.

So things are not the same as picking up a can $50 gallon of Acme nitrocellulose lacquer and blasting it on in an afternoon like it used to be.

I stopped by my local Clear Bra dealer/installer and asked how much it would be for a 2017 Superduty. He said his basic package was going to be two seventy five and I'm thinking, "Wow, I thought it might be expensive but not THAT much." Then I realized he meant $275. I'm going to have him do a lot more than the basic package. I paid more than that for a pre-cut kit for my current truck 10 years ago.

I did mention that the letters on the hood were recessed. He was surprised that they were so recessed that the Clear Bra had to be cut around the letters. He's going to try and stretch it into the letters so that it follows the recess.

Dang that's cheap. My bid was 4K to cover everything but the roof.

Not a real fan of 3m

i know 3 m makes a lot of great automotive products.
i don't think the clear bra is one of them.

i had my 2015 platinum done.lights and 15% of the hood and front fenders.
also had my wife's done the same way.

dont think the finish is as nice as it should be.

compared to the 2017 sun tech.
the 2017! Looks perfect. The installer showed me a few
pictures of 3m as it yellows and appears to break down.
the other brands have a self healing material that from what I understand 3 m does not have.

if it looks as good now in the spring I will have my wife's truck redone to match mine.and have the 3m removed.

that's if she does not trade it. She looking at a raptor 👀.

For anyone thinking about buying a pre-cut kit, isn't not as easy to install as it looks. I like to think I'm fairly mechanically inclined but the ClearBra was very frustrating and I didn't get it all correct. I couldn't for the life of me get the hood piece on right and I ended up paying a guy to do it. Small flat areas are easy, peasy. Like fog lamps. Big areas, a lot more difficult.

For the price my local installed is talking about there is no way I would subject myself to the stress of trying to install it myself.

I am having a 3m clear bra installed Tuesday and the shop doing it told me that it could be taken off any time and it would not damage the paint underneath. Are you saying that you have to repaint the truck anywhere the clear bra is when it comes off?

This is the case on my RV, but it has been on there 9+ years.

I would imagine the product has improved since then.
