What front springs come on the 450? Are they already the maxed out 6k springs like the plow prep gets?

The 6k springs on the f450 use a smaller wire than the 6k spring on the f350. I figure it is because a f350 with 6k on the front axle has more weight on the springs than a f450 with 6k on the axle. (The extra weight for the heavier tires and brakes aren't supported by the springs.) The f450 spec sheet shows a 7k axle max and a 6.5k spring option. I don't know how to order the various combinations though.

BTW, the f450 is 200# heavier on the front (and 300# heavier on the rear), so you would exceed the 5600# front spring of the f350 fairly easily with 5 passengers and anything in front of the axle in the bed.

Josh measured a SRW 350 with 20's at 81.5". lawdogg149 has F350 SRW 4x4 with snowplow package and 20's at 83.5. My truck will be a F350 Lariat 4x4 with the Heavy Service Front Suspension Package (67H) and 20's (642). I have 82.75 at the absolute max to get in my garage. Does anyone else have any more measurements or advice? I'm getting extremely worried that it will not work.

So what makes the 350 different than the 250 now? Just a overload spring?

Depends if the 250 has the HD tow package or not. A 250 with HD tow pkg. and the camper package is identical to a SRW 350. Without the camper package it will be missing the overload spring. Without the HD tow pkg. it will have a different rear axle, the Sterling 10.5, as opposed to the new M275.

Yes I would say from what I have seen so far you should be worried. 82.75 isn't gonna cut it.

Better look into raising the height of the door opening or getting smaller blocks for the rear (which would be a travesty in my opinion).

Most garage doors have at least a little room to remove trim pieces or something. You should be able to gain an inch pretty easily.

I haven't been around the garage door business for years, but they used to have what they called a "low-headroom kit." It basically added a second rail to each side of the door so that the main part of the door could roll up in a larger radius than the bottom rollers rode in. The lower rollers never reach the horizontal portion of the rails, so their rails went higher before curving toward horizontal, thereby raising the bottom of the door - and the height of the opening - by a few inches.

I fear that my wording is rather clumsy, but I hope you get the picture.

Don't forget that you may be able to adjust the raised limit so that the edge of the door is higher in the radius.

I got 8' foot door but my garage is only 20' deep!

What is bad is my garage space is over 1479 sq feet and each bay is only 20' deep!

The other thing is the entry way to our garage at the office says 6' 5" so that is a no go as well!

I'm glad we put 7'-6" tall by 10' wide garage doors on our new house. And the garage is 25' deep.

My wife's Flex looks dinky inside, but I can drive my truck in with the mirrors extended with a few inches to spare.

When I bumped out my garage, I designed it for an F450. 20x8 door with a 33' deep bay. I think it'll fit.

You are so right. Saturday is going to be rework garage door day.
There is a 2x8 header I can take out. A little trim work and I think I can get 84".
