Fuel Pressure Sensor Location
2007 F-150 5.4L
I have a P0453 code which indicates high voltage from the Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor. The only Fuel Pressure Sensor I've been able to find at any of the parts stores, rock auto, amazon, etc. is a Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor which is on the fuel rail under the hood.
However, I've seen some exploded diagrams that show a Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor in the actual tank, but no associated part number, and I can't find the part anywhere to actually purchase.
Does anyone know if there are indeed two different pressure sensors, one on the fuel rail and one in the tank?

I thought the same thing, that maybe it was part of the fuel pump assembly, but it isn't shown in any images of the fuel pump on the different parts store websites, nor is it mentioned in the description.
On Rockauto, when I go back to 2004 for the same truck and motor, the Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor starts to appear in the parts list. I'm wondering if after 2004 they went to a Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor only...? Maybe something to do with the return-less fuel system?

there has to be some wires going to it, right, not inside a tube..... I cant say the above is right, but I google it and that is one picture that showed up...... I would check electrical connectors and plugs and clean before changing. ...... what does it do when you leave the fuel tank cap loose ?

So my diagram was right, but it was 9C052 not 9C047 like the dealership said. I got underneath and felt around blindly on top the fuel tank and found a connector that I could tell immediately had a broken wire coming out of it. I spliced it back together, cleared the codes, and took it for a test drive with no issues and no CEL.
The fuel tank pressure sensor is on top of the tank on this year truck, but it does not twist into the tank like older models. It is inline with a fuel tube.

I just wanted to point out, eight years later and this thread is still helping people! I've owned my '07 F150 4x4 crew cab 5.4L for 14 years, and just recently had the FTP code pop up. After reading this I took a photo of the top of the tank to find the cables broken like OP mentioned. A little solder, heat shrink, and water-resistant connectors and I'm back up and running!
Thank you guys for working through this so long ago!
Photo of the broken wires on top of the gas tank.
Broken wires on the connector.
Repaired connector with heat shrink supporting the wires.
Water resistant connectors on the broken wire harness.
Completed repair. All's well again!

That pressure sensor is for an integrity test of tank and lines . Pcm decides to pull a small vacuum on tank after it closes vent solenoid on carbon cannister output of tank . Purge valve on firewall is already normally closed so test sees if vapors are leaking out of system . Vapors are only allowed to flow thru carbon cannister then out to atmosphere. Carbon absorbs the vapors and stores it until pcm decides to open purge valve on firewall then it pulls them into throttle body and burns them . But if you top off fuel all the time you will damage carbon cannister. Your vent valve allows air to leave tank as you are filling -fuel in air must go out . If you have trouble filling tank you have a vent blockage mud ,bugs or bad carbon cannister
Purge valve has a high failure rate , common failure is a bad gas cap . If you can blow thru purge valve its bad .

All this is interesting.
I have an '04 with fuel problems. Code "said" fuel module on top of rear frame. Took it off and jumped the outer wires on each side. Tried 3 replacement modules and none would work. I am driving with jumper wires. From reading these posts I will search out more of the system.
I find "it" interesting that price on this critter ranges from $30ish to $170. Two I tried had $50 difference in price yet the part numbers were the same! Same dealer, just a different box.
