Wink ELC Coolant in L99 7.3 ?

Many years ago I super flushed out the Ford Gold (I think) coolant out of my engine during a water pump change.

Mt truck is a L99.

I put in the Peak Final Charge ELC Coolant, and added the Diesel Site Coolant filter system.

I have incurred a coolant leak which I BELIEVE is coming from the gasket between the front cover and the engine block itself, though I have NOT had it pressure checked yet.

It IS possible that either my coolant temp sensor or heater hose fitting is whats leaking-just got to have the cooling system pressure checked.

I have read that some folks are experiencing coolant leaks caused by the ELC.....is it the E99s or all of them that experience this?

Suggestions? Thoughts? Thanks Guys!

I know that ELC was said to cause injector cup seal leaks on E99. With that said, I have used ELC in my E99 for about 8 years with no problem whatsoever. I run ELC in all my diesels (7.3, VW TDI, DD8V92TA) and have for years with no leaks. I am going to guess your ELC coolant has nothing to do with any leak in your engine.

Exactly!

However, I am one of the people who is scared to try ELC in this e99 even though the cups have been replaced.

Dye

There is dye for coolant just like there is for oil that will tell you the source of the leak with a black light.

Great! Thanks! I'll look into that as well.

Was actually thinking about BUYING a cooling system pressure tester, but they are kind of expensive! for a possibly one time use...

I'm using the Zerex ZXED1 ELC. I have a few hoses (clamps) leaking a tiny bit. I can tell by the "Pepto Bismal" it leaves behind. No need for leak detector for this stuff!

Yea, The Peak Final charge is good and red as well, but I can't quite tell if in fact its coming from the temp sender, heater hose fitting or between the front cover and the block......

Coolant can be tricky because of the large fan on the front of the engine slinging it everywhere.

Truck has been running weird for a couple of days no power then today notice that the coolant tank had very little coolant in it
then other issue is a hose was leaking by the power steering pump I am at a loss as to why I lost so much coolant I replaced the water and thermostat and serpentine belt
since I replaced the high prosser line I smell gear oil

That's one nasty looking truck seat right there.
