Picking up a new bed and parts question

I'm picking up my new bed from mid 50's tomorrow in Kingman. I was wondering if the 1955 bed, tailgate, running boards and roll pan would all fit in the bed of my truck or should I bring the trailer. My truck is a 2015 Ford f150 with a 7' bed. It is a 5 hr drive and not needing a trailer world be nice.

I did and they suggested a trailer but they did not seem like it was needed. I loaded an assbled bed on a truck bed with no problems, so wondering why a disassembled bed would need a trailer. Just looking for someone to answer who has seen the size of an unassembled bed.

I would think it should all fit without any problem unless it's an assembled bed and even then not likely a problem.

I too had similar predicament, it will fit, but it is packaged in a way that may not sit flat between your fender wells in your truck. They don't want to say for you to alter the packaging, than if it's damaged by the time you get home, who will you blame? If it doesn't sit flat in your box, what if something bends or moves around in the boxes? So, either bring a trailer, or bring some moving blankets and plan to re-organize the boxes so everything fits well. Actually not a bad idea, as if anything is damaged as you open to inspect, they have to acknowledge and maybe they have replacement parts in stock. I had to go through 2 tailgates, and 3 bumpers. Not from mid 50, but from same mfg, these packaging issues are typically the mfg fault, not the vendors. Even so, they (Dennis Carpenter) are really good at returning stuff that is damaged.

I bought two bed sides, front panel, and rear cross member and a front fender at Carlisle this spring and brought it home in my wife's Town and Country van. The bed was of course disassembled and not packaged. It laid flat on the floor of the van.

Do you mean the 6.5 ft box or the 8 ft box? They don't make a 7' box do they?

I say...let's see the '15 F-150!

if you bring enough ratchet straps...I bet you get it home with the truck no problem!

If you are worried that it won't fit between the wheel wells most new truck boxes have provision to put blanks above the wells for 2 tear loading, take along some planks and short legs to support the load if need be.

I put TWO beds in the back of my 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The size is basically that of one bed side...80 x 27 inches... plus packaging. When a guy I know ordered a bunch of parts from MidFifty they used the bed side boxes as shipping pallets for the fenders, etc. He inadvertently threw them away thinking they were just shipping flats. Bottom line...you got more than enough vehicle to handle those parts. BTW - an assembled bed is 53 inches wide and ~80 inches long at the bottom.

How was the trip to Mid-fifty? I almost made that trip once but then they had a special deal on shipping.

I wouldn't mind seeing how it is packaged, I've been thinking of ordering one from Midfifty in the new year.

I bought a complete bed from Mid fifty and left them the boxes. I believe they charge you for the boxes because they use them to ship. I think they took off money. I took blankets and bubble wrap. The boxes are big and bulky, The boxes have a 1 x slat running around the box for stability. You would make out ok in the truck
