alan.. I think I like the paint on this.. I think it would make the bus stand out in a parking lot instead of just blending in like it does now..

It's been a rough few days for Earthquake. I just did a practice crush behind the shop. (I'll have video up tonight) I slipped off the cars, got stuck high centered on one of them, broke the coupler in between the transfer cases, fixed that, then blew the front axle apart. Yeah it sucks, but as I've often said, "A bad day in the monster truck is STILL better than a good day in the shop."

RC. If you buy the materials, I'll lay the paint.

Here's what I found at the JY today. The grills weren't in very good shape. There was a couple gauge clusters and heater controls. He had a in cab fuel tank that looked to be in good shape. There was a set of bed rails that had surface rust and a small ding.
Will the marker lights and tail lights off of a van work on our dentsides?

It did, but I found insect nests inside one of the ports. I didn't want to risk plugging up other parts of the system so I'm just replacing it. With the way my asthma is, I use the a/c almost all year so it's not an area I like to take chances with.

Side marker lens off an 80's/90's ish Econoline van are a direct swap for a 73-79 and the tail light lens have a plastic longer stud on the back side of them where the mount screw comes thru. But you can just grind it off and not reuse the thick gasket.

Also thicker padded steering wheel direct swap, and the old style dome light lens cover. Maybe on early ones even the dash cluster, but you get a "unleaded only" statement under the fuel gauge.

What about a Hydro boost off of a 88 t-bird ? Is it one of them that will work for the upgrade?

Dave, can't you make a plate out of 1/8" stock however long and wide you need and drill 4 holes in it, 2 for the tranny bolts and 2 for where the ranny bolts would go into the cross member? Then all you would need is whatever nuts and bolts you need to bolt it all together, no need to move or get a crossmember.

Here ya' go everyone. It can crush cars again. .....I'm pretty sure the axle was broken when I started. It was just pushing the cars instead of climbing them. I hope to have better axles and suspension by the time it gets warm again.

I wish I could. Note how much the case drops down right in front of the transmission mount...

The transmission mount takes up some of the space, but the old crossmember location winds up right where the case drops down. I could trim the crossmember back a bit to clear and use the plate idea, but as you can see there's a lot of difference between the two.

In my opinion, by the time I got done cutting and welding, it would be just as easy to go grab one from the parts yard - especially since I know right were one is.

Dave a JY lap would be the fastest and take out the mod/guess work.

Alan you are a mad man on 66's. Where is your helmet? Not all accidents take place on the track, the pros wear it when practicing too! And so therefore so should you. And you really need a in cab roll cage. Or make the bar in the bed a "roll" bar attached to the frame. You remember "train like fight, and fight like your trained"! That will help develop the "with" helmet sight picture of the cars. Or go with a black and flame painted open face old school helmet?

Safety 1st brother, since you will not look out for you, I will.
