It’s a 12 inch solid tube Dobsonian telescope. The 12” refers to the diameter of the primary mirror. The steel tube is 14” in diameter. Moving it around is like carrying a section of culvert pipe around 😄

I do have a full aperture solar filter for it so I could observe the Sun with it but my Herschel wedge on my 80mm or 125mm refractors provides lots more details.

How cool is that! I don't suppose you'd want to adopt a couple of 65 year olds to take camping would you?

Quick stopover am my uncles house near Cedar City, Ut. He’s always good for free full hookups, so we come here often.

We did a short trip to OBX last week. We had the premiere site (our opinion) at Camp Hatteras in Rondanthe NC. Strong easterly winds 1 dune away from the ocean made the camper look like a salt block by the end of our stay, but it is clean now.

When we still had kids at home, we stayed in the camper while they stayed outside in the tent. You up for that?

It's not as bad as it sounds, actually. The tent actually has a window air conditioner!

First trip of the year.

Hooked up and loaded

Stopped in Ely NV. We didn't have a spot in Elko until today.

Our home until Wednesday, visiting one of our adopted daughters and our grand daughter

New truck, old camper, Rockwood Signature Ultra Light 8280SS. Bought the camper new in July of 2008. Not planning on getting another one as we think they are all too expensive, too fancy and too heavy. And we like being debt free. Gas engine pulls the 8300 pounds just fine.

The Reese 20K puck style hitch is awesome. I can handle it all by myself, getting in in and out of the bed. The previous hitch was a Reese 16K rail mounted slider and it had, by necessity, a great deal of "slop" in it so it rattled and clanked a lot. Not this one. Solid and quiet. We are very happy with this set up.
