dad got a new truck..

Well my dad pretty much stole the truck. He picked up a 94 cc lwb f350 4wd auto 7.3 for 1k. Runs real good. Has a glow plug problem and the front fuel tank is not working.
Where do we need to start looking to see what is wrong with the front tank?

Holy Crap, he sure did steal it... The front axle alone is worth what he paid. Why can't I ever find deals like that?
Anyway, does the fuel gauge change when you switch the switch? Is the front tank more than 1/4 full? If the gauge works, but there's less than 1/4 tank, it could be the "cone of failure" on the fuel pickup tube. They tend to disintegrate, and it starts sucking air at 1/4 tank.

Yeah, "not working" isn't enough info. Do you hear the selector valve make any noise when you hit the switch (key ON, engine OFF)? Does the gauge change? Does it stall when you try to run it on the front tank?

Meanwhile, yeah, turn dad in to the authorities, he stole that truck. We'll, er, have to hold the truck, for, er, evidence.....

Little update since we got it home. We are on our way back to tx now. The rear tank was almost empty so we stopped to fill up and figured we would put a little bit in the front tank because the gauge was showing empty. We figured out quick that it's full. So I decided I would try it out. We have been about 20 miles now. So we now know it works just needs a sending unit.
Where is the glow plug relay located?
I haven't had a chance to look yet

Glow plug relay is behind the air filter on the intake manifold if it is non turbo and on the passenger side valve cover if it has a turbo. As said above it most likely just needs the plugs replaced. Only use motorcraft ZD-9 plugs and it would be good to read the glow plug thread at the top of the page. Lots of good information there.

We had to replace a fuel line to the #6 injector today. When he turned the key on the gp relay was clicking on and off continuously . It clicked every few seconds. I know mine in my 00 f250 7.3 doesn't do this but I've never had a older one.

If the relay is clicking like that it means that one or more glow plugs are burnt out. Its the controllers way of saving the rest of the plugs.

Ok thanks. Guess we will be ohming glow plugs to see which ones are good. Probably just change them all so we know they all are good and won't have any issues for awhile
