Thanks, guys. We are still getting a couple hours in on her before work. Today we finally sorted out the sand blaster. Added a second water separator, enlarged the ID of the fitting at the bottom of the tank, we also found out that even a new bag of media needs to be screened. Sand blasting is slow so we are spot priming as we go. It's a great feeling to get all the rust off from the under side of the rockers. Also finished fabricating the new cab mount.

More progress

slowly we are getting closer to welding the cabs together. Cab mounts were finished up this week. Planning on getting them welded in this week. We also started repair work on the doors.

this is our first go around at this.

we cut the door skin of in anticipation of using a reproduction. the new door skin profile wasn't even close! we hammered out the old one and reattached it.

enlisted help from a friend.

he tacked and glued panels.

keeping all of the original dent sections so they will line up better. $700 dollars on patch panels the wont fit!

Door mounted after repair.

Nice work. I have this job to look forward to on my F250 crew. I was going to buy patch panels too. Where did you buy the patch panels that don't fit? I would send them back and get a refund.

Still having issue with mobile app.

The skins were from Dennis Carpenter. I also got the same brand from LMC truck. Taiwan crap. One of the lower door panels from LMC was from tremco. This piece was much better than the rest. Made in USA!! It was thicker, and not painted with **** primer. It had a protective coating on it to keep the rust at bay. You can by from them direct. I only received one piece from them. If I buy more patch panels it will be from Tremco.

Things have slowed down a bit due to business picking up. We did locate and tack the cab mounts in place. I'm going to have a friend do the welding on these to be sure there in good. Once the cab mounts are in, the next step will be welding the two cabs together. Next couple of weeks hopefully.

I'll keep you posted.

If you have unlimited data on your phone, like me, don't bother with mobile app. I hate the way it looks and reads. I prefer full desktop version. It's only a little slower.

Thanks for the info. I'll research tremco. I never heard of them.

Better patch panel was Tabco. Sorry to mislead you.
What we did decide was to use as much original metal as possible. Make small patches out of sheet stock. Hammer and dolly dents as best you can. You would be surprised at how much you can actually save. Good luck.

More 6 door progress

slowly making progress. We got the majority of the frame stripped down with exception of the rear axel, pressure washed and ready for sandblasting.

Also made last connecting weld for the cab and pulled out the rotisserie.

once we can spin the beast upside down I'll clean up the welds on the roof connection. Have a couple more brackets to weld on before that.

Figuring out brackets

[I]Big step getting her in the air! Good excitement for 6am. Trying to keep our head of steam.z
