So they are pretty close. The new GM 10 speed HD transmission has almost exactly the same ratios, no surprise since they are both based on the same light duty transmission.
Looking at final drive ratio, the 6 spd with a 4.30 gear in 1st is 17.93. With the 10 speed and a 3.55 gear, 1st gear is 16.64. At the other end, 6th gear with a 4.30 gear gives a final drive ratio of 2.967 (2.57 with a 3.73). 8th gear with a 3.55 gives you 3.03, 9th is 2.44 and 10th goes all the way down to 2.24. So I think there is enough overlap to have the best of both worlds with the new 10 speed.

I am looking for better fuel mileage........
Better mileage while towing would be nice..... But mostly when not towing.
The F-350 gives me the choice of: 3.55 which I had on my 2011 F-350 SRW...... That truck did fine.
The current F-350 DRW has a 3.73..... This does give me a smoother start and higher speeds climbing a steep grade.
If I went with a F-450, I have no choice but a 4.30 rear end. I am guessing that will give me worse mileage that the 3.55 I could get in the F-350 dually.

1. I support the US Constitution word for word.
2. I therefore support the 2nd amendment...... Carry a handgun all the time.
3. Abortion is murder
4. Welfare (for the most part) needs to go away right now.
5. Trade with china needs to end now.
6. Our southern border needs to be sealed and enforced with orders to shoot to kill.
7. ALL illegals need to be sent home now.
8. All people, to include elected officials, that fit the definition of "Traitor" need to be arrested and brought to trial.
This list can go on for quite awhile......

I watched Mount Rushmore ceremony on YouTube last night, President Trump did a great job and our South Dakota governor Kristi Noem did a fine job also.
