Sure miss the days when I lived 12 miles from the border, 20 miles in total from Wahalla N.D. Looks like you've got enough parts and pieces to put it all together. Wanna borrow some of our rain so that I can finish my neighbours fence and get back to my own nightmare projects?.

LOL I could use some more rain. It's balancing on just enough to too dry here.

Carb arrived on the bus last night. I have one more piece that is arriving non engine related. This weekend is no good to work on motor but the next weekend I might have it put together! Still need a starter though. the one in grumpy is very hit or miss to if it engages or not. probably the original starter lol!

Once motor is assembled, The heart of grumpy will be pulled. Then the distributor, fuel pump and ring gear will be donated to the new engine assuming the ring gear is in good shape. If not then It will be a hunt for that...

then the old motor will be up for sale as a core or something and now I have those EGR plate and actuators to sell as they will not be used on this build...

Starters arent that hard to rebuild and the kit is dirt cheap, how long it takes depends on your ocd level.

Dig post holes, get the 2 record heat days, 34 & 32c. Build fence, get off and on rain all day. Finish fence, only rains after 9pm, snafu, LOL At least it's done.

Hope your luck is better, this spring had better get sprung soon or maybe this weather is all Al Gore's and David Suzuki's fault. lol

Guy was on a fb group looking for a visor, guy responded with this one and guy had a hissy fit because it was not a lighted lund visor! scored this for $60!

even has the rat rod style holes in the top. think it will be cool. gonna strip it down to white.

Well LOTS got done today!!

Crank and pistons are in

Cam and double roller timing chain in

Intake and heads on, New pushrods, new oil pump on, and valve covers set on it.

Then came paint! No, its not chevy orange.. its is RED RED RED. lol the chevy guy gave me hell for it but in the whole town there was TWO cans of ford blue and they were not the same shade!

And how it was left for now. Oil pan got painted to. New starter and water pump on the way. Unsure what to do about the valve covers atm.

Nice progress.
Heres what I bought for mine, price was right and allow plenty of room for roller rockers. I prepped mine and painted them black.

I found a dressup kit on ebay.

aluminium finned polished covers and an oblong oval air cleaner. will have to see which one makes the final cut.

Old grungy engine bay and transmission. Caked on gunk EVERYWHERE!

This is how caked on the starter, bellhousing, clutch assembly and transmission was!

the old starter.

Engine bay cleaned!!

Clutch looks really good! lots of meat left on it!

Old motor out and stripped of the new parts that will be used on the new motor. HEI distributor and fuel pump and the new hose from water pump to block. was a few months old at most.

Old motor and how grungy it was! Re-used that plate on the right.

Clutch on!

I would not be able to do this without buddy Jason! He's done this so many times that its second nature to him!

Sitting in place!

In with the new! it's mounted, trans mounted, driveshaft hooked up.

Nice job. Grumpy is sound mighty healthy and ready to run. I love the look of those valve covers and air cleaner. Looks as though grumpy is in need of the factory bumper guards and rub strips on the front bumper. Can't wait to see more progress.
