The dowels just came out of the block. You should have new dowels with your gaskets. Take out the ones in the heads and put the new ones in the block.

I would appreciate any help on my turbo question, please feel free to give me a call if that is easier for anyone. Send me a message and I will send you my number. Thanks again for all the help. Turbo is bolted down, exhaust coming from manifold is at least a 1/2" short. Have unbolted the exhaust coming from the manifold. I am afraid if I force it I am looking for problems down the road.

Did you do an EGR delete with a new up pipe. Is that the side that is short?

OK, I did not go with the delete kit, went with a filter upgrade instead. I wound up taking the turbo off the mounts, put the clamp on, then got the turbo over the oil tube and pushed down, the back mounting bolt was off, so I drew the turbo into the back bolt hole with the other 2 mounting bolts. I guess i am more worried that it may stress something. I was thinking it was short due to the expansion/contraction. It has been down since January. Bottom line is it is in place and bolted down. Again I appreciate the help and I hope to continue to learn and benefit from all of the experience out there. Thanks again.

A 1/2 inch is a lot for expansion. I can see a few thousands of an inch. Everyone I have done mine the exhaust manifolds and up pipes were bolted in first then I installed the turbo. Takes a little finess to maneuver into place but it goes well.

Sometimes a donut crush gasket is needed on the manifold to y-pipe.

6.0 question

Have everything done, put fuel in the fuel filter and have checked everything. Ford dealership said all I have to do is cycle the key numerous times and then start. Is this true? How long should I cycle the key, and what if it does not start? I know the last one is a biggie, just trying to think ahead.

Cycle the key 3 or 4 times on and off. It may take some cranking since you were pretty deep into it.it'll start, have faith!. Just dont get discouraged if you have to put your batteries on a charger overnight after you try the first time. The can be a real bear at times.

I seem to recall that there is supposed to be a delay in the on position. Maybe 5 seconds, I think? That's what I do after fuel filter changes anyhow, turn key on for 5 seconds, turn off, then back on for 5 seconds etc for 5 cycles. Maybe overkill but personally I worry about low fuel pressure at the injectors. I'm probably a little **** about it though.

Wow, we have an engine rebuild thread and no pics.... Amazing. Stealth rebuild! Yes cycle the key, but it is going to take a little bit to get oil pressure up to start, so when you start cranking it will feel like an eternity. Did you fill oil into the HPOP reservoir? I have heard guys talking about it taking "for ever" to get started after this type of work, because the LPOP has to fill that reservoir under the oil cooler.

The fuel pump will run for 20-30 seconds with each KOEO. You should do that 3 to 4 times after a filter change. You have a fuel pressure gauge, don't you Tim?
