Big screw driver should work. Twist the screw driver as you pull.

If the screen is missing you will need to pull your IPR and inspect it. You may need to inspect inside the high pressure oil pump as well.

You can buy a new screen and seal kit for the IPR for about 30 bucks

Did you get you glow plug harness off. Sometimes it can be a pain to get the plugs out. A small piece of vac line over the end will work good.

No, I have not gotten the glow plug harness off yet, I am going to be doing that this morning, along with pulling the heads off and start cleaning the parts.

If you want just unhook the glow plug harness and pull the wires of after you get the heads off then you will have more room to work with them and maybe not ruin the harness.

yep, that is what I did, just unplugged the harness and pulled, now another question for you guys, the guy at the ford dealership told me to put it back together with old hoses, flush with simple green and water, and then replace the hose and fill with coolant. Y'all ever heard that, or difference of opinions of what y'all do.

So, I am cleaning my heads up, on the Right side head, I have some orange discoloration on 3 of the water ports that stretch out about a 1/2' from the port, I am thinking those were my problems. I am still replacing the oil cooler and everything else. Any thoughts? Also, I am prepping to put everything back together. The ford mechanic mentioned to me about keeping all my old hoses on until I am done flushing with simple green. Have any of you done this or used something else. I want to post the pic of the cylinder head, but it keeps asking me for a hyperlink, can't I just post one?

Thanks again

Ford guy just wants to make sure you dont contaminate the new hoses. I would take them to the car wash first and blow them out real good before putting them back on to flush. You getting your heads checked out??

Ok, pretty much my last question I think, putting the head back on and noticed two dowels on the front and back of the cylinder head, not the block, curious as to what these are for? and how am I torquing the head with these on, any help???
