88 F250 Borg Warner T-Case (new or used)?

BW 1350 slipping (loudly) out of gear, in reverse only (so far), 2wd and 4wd both. T-case fork? Better to take out and get rebuilder kit and new fork; or find a used one in good condition? I have to pay for the work to be done.
My truck has 180,000 miles of rugged use. So not unexpected that the t-case fork might be worn...

Thoughts?

thanks, Del

Umm... I doubt it is the transfer case.

Another thing is... They are stupid simple. A chain with gears at each end, and a shift collar on one end with a fork. Nothing complex in them at all.

i agree with Volvo, it sounds like the trans and not the transfer case.

however, if you want to throw a t-case at it, its best to just go get one from a jy or craigslist. theyre abundant. very, very abundant.

and very expensive new, or rebuilt.
