Mine cracked recently and on a cold start up it will whistle quite a tune until the turbo spools up.

BD Diesel up-pipes will be going on to upgrade and replace my stock Ford up pipes.
So I'm experiencing a kettle type scream/whistle. It started when I cleaned my turbo. Actually it was fine right after then around 1000kms after it started. It's worst when cold until the engine warms up. Thing is it's quiet until I hits around 18psi boost. I'm hoping it's just the up pipe connection and not the y pipe. Guess I'll find out when I change my turbo soon. Those y pipes look like fun to do. Good luck.

They're actually much easier than the 7.3...

You probably cracked the bellow when you removed and reinstalled the turbo. I remember the last time I took mine out and how it was too easy to move the head of the y-pipe. If you have an EGR delete, the repair is reasonably easy, but if you don't, you have to undo the passenger side.

Let me know how the the install goes. I just replaced the leaking pass side with a solid EGR delete pipe, not sure how long it will last seeing some for the reviews doing solid ones.

If you can take pics or let me know how those bellows are made they seem to be the same as stock but I would have expected them to be upgraded from stock, like the the braided ones others use.

So is there anyway for me to tell for sure if it's my bellows that are cracked. My new turbo is ordered and if it is if like to do it at the same time. Prolly easier. But if it's not the bellows leaking id rather not replace the y pipe because I've spent a lot on this rig latley and my funds are drying up. Lol. What if I wrapped the bellows in something it should change the sound I'm thinking? Or something like this.

Once I figured out I had an exhaust leak I just let the engine idle and started sticking my hand around until I felt the leak.

Thing is it sounds perfect until I hit around 20psi of boost. Not sure if feeling around in there would help? Im going to poke around this weekend and see what I can find. I'd like to get a y pipe ordered soon if it's pooched. Can a guy get in there better from the bottom? I did change the pipe out with the egr tube for a solid one that came with my delete kit not sure if that's important or not. Thanks

I didn't really know either, just the sound and rolled around for 15K with it. When I got a high HP tune 2-3 weeks ago It was smoking more than I'd like so I actually stood on the brake in the driveway and made a smoke cloud. Big cloud out the pipe but as the boost started rising coal started rolling from under the hood and through the AC vents, figured there was an exhaust leak and I should check it out.

I though I was gonna die, I had the girl friend do the same thing while I laid under the truck. All I saw was smoke I waited till was all cool then let it idle and stuck my hand around all the joints. If it got to hot turn it off and let it cool again. Finally found the leaking joint when stupid hot gas hit my hand around an otherwise cool up-pipe.

I did and was hoping to pick them up, but I ran out of time (whistle at idle is getting louder and more serious) and funds. I was waiting till next month to get the BD pipes, but the truck said "No! I need them now!"

From the bottom is how you get them. The passenger side is reasonably easy whereas the driverside presents a small, but doable challenge.

Let me know if you need help. Depending on what side of town you're on I can lend a set of hands.
