You really need live data at this point or AE to do a buzz test. 1670 indicates communication between IDM and PCM I believe. I don't have a break out box for the IDM but I would look at every wire coming into and out of the IDM. The IDM is located behind the mud/splash guard on the drivers side fender well just behind the tire. Here is an answer from a ford tech I found on the google search. Here is the link to the page I was looking at. http://www.justanswer.com/ford/1edrc...sel-w-70k.html
FJ10 DTC P1316 OR P1670, CHECK FOR AN INTERMITTENT OPEN CIRCUIT

  • Key off.
  • Install breakout box, leave PCM disconnected.
  • Disconnect IDM.
  • Check for intermittent open in the following circuits:
    • Measure resistance on (FDCS) circuit 821 (BR/OG) between IDM connector pin 17 and PCM test pin 95.
    • Measure resistance on (EF) circuit 818 (GY/WH) between IDM connector pin 4 and PCM test pin 48.
  • Grasp the harness close to the IDM connector. Wiggle, shake the harness while working your way back to the PCM, while looking for a spike on the DVOM.
Do all readings remain below 5 ohms throughout procedure?

This is what I did , I took the ipr apart and just as I was thinking the plug in has a rubber gasket that when I unplugged it to tighten it the first time when plugging back in the rubber seal got pushed in so it wasn't plugging in all the way so I cleaned it all put back together and over 20 miles no problem yet !!!
I want to thank all of you for hanging in ther over all this time !!! I'm not a Macanic by all means and you explained things so I was able to fix it myself and save thousands of $$$$$ thanks again ill keep this trend open for a few more miles
You all are great !!!!!

Best bang for your $ is 6637 intake kit at rifraffdiesel. On my phone so no link. Great on the 400 miles.

I have a Ford AIS. It lasts about 20,000 miles between filter changes on a tuned stock truck in Wenatchee (even with 30 PSI of boost at WOT), it's dead quiet in the cab, it's been modified to pull air from the driver-side fender (with a boot), and it will be for sale at a discounted price very soon. Why am I pulling it if it's so great? I upped my injectors and turbo, so now I need even more air.

yes, Donaldson built it for Ford. I did the research before I purchased.positives are, they are quiet, very good filtration with long term element, easy to service. negatives are, more expensive than diy 6637,the element is more expensive but long term helps offset the cost, they wont flow enough air for some of the more higher hp mods.
