400 fuel pump

I recently put a new intake and a 650cfm holly carb on my truck and now my engine is starving for feul. Is there a manufacturer that makes larger capacity pumps or can i turn up an origonal one to compensate for the larger carb?

I would put a gauge in before the carb and just verify what the fuel pressure is. From what I've heard a good stock pump should put out more than enough pressure.

I believe it should be around 6.5 to 8 psi.

An intake and carb wouldn't relegate a, what was good fuel pump, now useless. My guess would be an improperly tuned new carb.

Are you positive it's starving for fuel and not flooding? The stock mechanical fuel pumps often output too much pressure for aftermarket carbs.

Well it happens after ive been goin down the road for a while if i pump the gas or pull the choke it tries to keep running and i have a clear filter right before the carb that is almost empty when i get out and look at it

A sneaky cause of fuel starvation is collapsing or leaky rubber fuel lines. They get old and soft and the fuel pump sucks them shut... or they leak a little air on the suction side and the pump pulls air. Worth checking/replacing all the short sections of rubber line.
