He sold that bumpside on tonights episode at auction for 50K.

They put 30K into it, made 20K profit, it was the most involved build on the show yet.

1948/52: It would be an F1, F100 introduced in 1953.

I enjoyed last night episode; as you mention most involved build yet on the show. Starting out with $2500 with another roughly 16k was hard for me to decipher, but 50k sell was ridiculous. But it was sharp ride once done.

I've got to admit that the Bump rebuild is superb. The only beef I have with the show is the focus is more on the salesman's travels and not the build. I would love to see more work and less snorting tequila.

Theres no way I would imagine paying 50K for a 40year old truck. Takes all the fun out of it.

I'm in the process of planning a very similar potential project so was really interested in the program. First time I've watched Fast N Loud.

The show was content-free as far as any technical info goes. Said virtually nothing about wiring up the PCM and sensors or if any tuning of the PCM was done. I saw the frame rail notches required for the rear axle flip but it wasn't even mentioned. How did they do the gauges? Did that nice, level lowered stance just happen or ????? How much did the truck get lowered?

I don't know what audience they're trying to get but it wasn't very helpful for a guy that's considering that project. And, all the panic over getting it done in a week is way off the mark for a hobbiest that enjoys doing a project. I give them a D-.

I wondered about that too. Wondered if they had some shill bidders to run the price up. Seems outrageously high.

Ask yourself this: Who is actually paying for the vehicles and all the costs to mod them?

Is it the Fast & Loud (Discovery Channel) TV show, or the guy and his crew they hired?

Probably the TV show. The guy and his crew they hired get a salary and "a piece of the action" after the vehicle is sold. That is, if they actually did make a profit on it.

American Pickers: The TV show provides the Mercedes Sprinter, the buildings in IA and TN to house all the stuff they buy. Most likely hired and is paying the multi tattood gal to do all the paperwork.

Ask yourself this: What car auction doesn't have shills?

Some of these car auctions have "open bars" and free "horse doovers." Buyers get stewed, peer pressure causes them to overbid. Then if they win it, are stuck paying for it.

Many of the buyers are used car dealers that specialize in collector vehicles. Sometimes is takes months after the auction ends for the consignees (owners of the vehicles) to get paid.

One major auction company declared bankruptcy, the consignees were then up the proverbial creek without a paddle. No vehicle, no title, no money, no nothing.

WOW it amazes me how many experts are on these forums, seems the old saying is true," opinions are like *********s everybody has one and they all stink",.
These guys are good friends of mine and I've yet to see the same quality of work on the builds I've seen here as they are capable of.
Richard is a character but that's why the show is still filming more episodes, and the builds keep going, KC Aaron and the rest are busy building hot rods while all you experts are playing on your computer.
The 68 is nicer in person than the tv can show, the lack of billet/chrome and other crap just shows the amount of detail in the build, and as far as the auction (a real/legitimate auction with legal binding bids) ,goes it was up to $47,500 when I left, and drew more attention than any thing there. Like it or hate it it's gonna be around awhile, so instead of picking it apart, go out and learn how to fabricate/paint or do anything to your own project!!!

I agree with all the critical thinkers on this thread who question the selling prices of FNL builds. $50K for that '68, REALLY??????????????

I think the show is stupid, these guys dont know what the hell they are doing. I watched the one were they got the 50 olds I beleive and instead of rebuilding the 303 olds they throw a chevy 350 in it. Seems the easiest way to make anythin run is to put a chevy 350 in somethin. Im tired of seeing chevy 350s in every damn car or truck that goes down the road.

I like the show but I would agree to do it right rebuild the Olds engine and do it justice not cheap 350 power. The Mark3 Looked nice wouldn't it been cheaper to get smaller rims and tires installed then modifying the mint body to fit the wheels styles will change and that car is now dated.I think the 68 F100 was awesome they did a great job on it.
