460 swap

460 swap
Hey guys I have a 1976 f150 with a 390 and a 4 speed manual tranny in it and I have found a 460 that I would like to put in it. The 460 is in a automatic from an old mercury. What kind of bell housing setup should I be looking for? And what will I need to modify for the motor mounts to get this engine bolted in?

Theres a whole lot to do this swap, first what year is the 460, if its the older model, you can use a 390 flywheel, 390 flywheel bolts cut off 1/4 inch, and a 351M or 400 bellhousing, the flex plate will need to be modified, a FE brass poilet bushing machined off 3/8 of an inch, the trans input shaft cut off at least 3/8 inch, a clutch and pressure plate from a late 80"s 351 W, its drilled for both patterns and is a diaframe style, use the 76 throw out bearing, doing it this way will let you bolt the bellhousing straight to the engine without spacers, making the starter work right. L&L in texas has all this, as well as mounts, but very pricy. If you use the later 460 engine, you will need a matching flywheel, early and late are balanced different.
