Option #3. Sometimes. My car is a lemon, so the 76 f250 gets the job more often than not. Would love to restore it, or at least fix some of the gaping rust holes, but it still runs great and gives 10mpg

I was in the same boat just after Katrina, who'd ever thought we'd look longingly back at those days?

I had a '86 3/4 ton 2wd Dodge 360 cid. I bought an econobox, that I'm still making payments on and sold the Dodge. I don't know if it was any better deal you can second guess yourself to death these days.

Forward 6 years and I bought my dent to be a daily driver as my kid is about to get his license and the plan is for him to take over the econobox. I now only work 5 miles or so away so I should be able to pull it off.

My wife is pissed because she wanted something "new" and have the kid take over her Cherokee. It just happened that my dent came along.

The way I figure it the brat will total the glorified skateboard within 6 mos., momma will get her wheels with the insurance money and the Cherokee will become his anyway.

...and I'll still be fat, dumb and happy in my short bed.

She'd kill me if she heard me say that.

Well I use mine as a daily driver and a one way trip to work is 108 miles. Although I only drive the extended trip there and back once a week but I have saved, not having a car payment...sold my camry and kept the truck..but it does suck gas...looking for an el cheapo car...

Thanks for all the replies.

My gas bill difference should be about $1300 a year alone with a smaller economy car. i have a opportunity to get a 1989 Honda Civic Wagon back from a relative soon. So it may all work out for the best.

Love the Dent. As we were looking back over the upside and down, i realized that the truck is really a must keep now. We use the LWB for multiple projects around the house and with the church. Hauling one riding lawnmower alone might make the truck worth keeping.

The other part of this is trying to sell a LWB and not losing my shirt...

I used to drive about 30-35 miles a day to work. But my wife and I moved closer to my job (and her school) so now my commute is about a 1/2 mile. My dad daily drives a 1970 Torino station wagon with an '88 roller motor 302. I wanted something like that. I wanted to shoot myself everytime I had to drive my 2002 Chevy (I know I know) cavalier. So I sold the Cheby and bought my dent. I drive it everyday and I couldn't be happier.
But not too long ago my dad hit a deer with his Torino. The deer tore it up pretty bad. I now plan to get a little gas sipper as a dd mostly to save my truck. Crap happens whether it be a deer or a drunk driver, I'd rather rebuild or replace a cavalier than my dent.

If I'm gonna hit a deer, I'd rather be in my dent than in my 'yota.

79 F350 is my daily driver, to work, the farm, around town and such. 13.5 MPG in my dent or my 04' F150 I'd rather show off the ole girl. But hope you get it all figured out.

Boomer

I use my 05 Suburban 2500 4X4 as my daily driver mostly because it will carry all my work stuff securely. If my job for the day does not require all my gear I'll drive the dent and turn some heads. The Suburban gets 12.5MPG and runs fine on cheap gas and Candy Cane gets 10MPG and runs on supreme only.

#3 for me. My DD is a 83 tercel wagon 4wd that gets 29 highway. Found out this past weekend you can fit all the running gear from a 73 F100 in the back minus the engine. lol.

The 78 F150 of mine is just a pretty work truck. My aunt does furniture. So since she gives me a place to live, I pick up the couches for her. Of course, I charge a delivery/pickup fee to cover my gas. haha. That...and I have a 68 sears suburban I use to plow several gardens and that doesnt fit in the wagon.

haha! it was worth a try!

I'd recomend keeping it and buy a beater. I have a yard full of Fords but always seem to end up in the 30mpg toyota. Plus it's fun to beat the ever loving crap out of those little cars.

I would get a cheap 4 cyl car to trot around in. I have a 99 plymouth breeze and I get 34 mpg and do not mind when the commuters bang into it at the train station. My next best mileage car gets 15 tops, my 2500 hd. My dent a 76 highboy will be my toy....
