Also, you need a ZF5 tail shaft and housing. A M5OD will not work

Yes. you NEED ZF 5 parts, nothing else will work. But buy the time you build one, you should of just bought one

Ok thanks Brad. I know everybody keeps telling me that but a ZF5 around here is a hard to find item up here and when they are found they want a lot. Again thanks for the help again I am glad you are subscribed to my thread to help me.

Well if you wind a tail housing and a tail shaft, chances are the rest of the trans is still attached to it

Ya if I do find it with the trans. But it could be a bad trans. I will keep an eye out. If I don't find one before we get started I will just use the 4 speed till I can get one.

Anything going on with this build?

I have a question. Did the flatbed off the parts truck bolt up to the crew cab? I see flatbed bullnose fords occasionally and would like one for my truck.

No nothing going on just yet on this as I have been busy with the other build thread in my sig. I am waiting for a garage to start this one I though that I would be starting sooner then now.

A bullnose flatbed will bolt onto a bricknose no problem they use the exact same frame. Actually before this bed was on that bullnose it was on a 70s ford.

ok so Saturday I did get some work done on this truck. Before the bricknose hood wouldn't line up right with the body lines so I decided since I had nothing better to do I wanted to line the hood up with the body lines so that I know the hood isn't damaged. So I took the hood off (the left spring was already off as the fender hole is busted where I can't put the clip to the left spring on) and started aligning it so that it is closer to my 88 F150s front hood (a little gap in-between the headlights and such.) I had to align the metal on the hood that the latch grabs and align the latch. It was fairly simple but I still need to find a hood latch cable as it isn't done right yet. Also noticed the ground cable from the firewall to the hood was broken. I have one in the truck but haven't replaced it as I will need to disconnect it again when it comes time to take the clip off. The left fender is totaled on the inside so going to have to replace it (I don't know if I have one or not). Also since ripping the front bumper off for safety reasons I took the brackets off. My brother (the one getting this truck) did clean under the hood a bit too. I am thinking instead of putting a stock ugly front bumper back on when time comes I think we will just make a custom front bumper that holds a winch. Other then that nothing really been happening. I do have a couple of doors that me and my brother are debating on putting on since they are manual windows. Personally I prefer all manual window but he is looking into possibly going all auto.

Ok so some updates that are going to change this thread up completely:

First off it is no longer just my brothers truck. We got him another truck that was already 4x4 and only needs an engine and some small things to work. I know the 460 in this truck runs (had it running) so gonna probably pull the 460 from this one and drop it in his new truck to get him going.

Secondly it became our hauler truck now. So we have decided to probably leave it 2wd although I do need the part for the front end for another project.

Third: I found out the rear end I got from my buddy is a dually rear end (I need to find out the gears but haven't yet.)

So here is the new plan:
the 460 I have from my brothers other truck is completely torn apart yet in great shape minus needing rebuilt (lots of slack in timing chain, and been apart for a year but I believe it turns over I still have to see) so I am going to rebuild it to have a decent amount of power. Probably close to stock maybe some upgrades for towing still have to talk to the family about this one.

I am going to take the rear end I got and if it isn't 4.10s or 4.30s I am going to regear it and drop it in there and pick up a set of nice dually wheels (not sure where or what yet). Either way I am completely rebuilding it as it needs brake parts and such. It is either rebuild this one or rebuild the one in it currently which the other one is in for the win being that it is already set up for dually.

I am going to leave the flatbed on it since it is plenty wide enough to fit duals without sticking out to far and breaking the laws.

I know I have to rebuild the transmission completely as supposedly it won't come out of gear (I don't believe this but it is entirely possible).

Now the front end is in good shape I may still replace some regular parts but not sure on that just yet.

For body wise: I am going to just get a left fender (the current one is trashed), I have 2 front doors already manual windows, and get a regular bricknose front bumper and throw it on their along with the brush guard I originally got for my 88 but I got a different one.

I may paint it if I do probably just going to be a decent cheapo job.

I am going to grab a tach style cluster and swap it in.

I so far have a list of parts I know I need other then above:
fuel pumps (tested both and both are bad)
alternator (the old one I took off)
rear tank (found a hole in it)
wiper ***** (have)
replace radiator (I have it)
battery
headlight assemblies (I had to take them off and I got some chrome trim ones I need to rebuild)
windshield
drivers side inner handles (have 1 got to get another one)
both battery cables
door locks
and wiper blades (I have the arms)

I figure with as much as everything will cost (of course more will come up) and as much as I spent on the truck ($100) I will still be ahead and it will stop me from beating up our 89 F250 or our 02 F250 and other trucks.

I have pretty much decided to leave it more or less the same minus convert to dually and build the engine I have.

All of this is going to be after my garage is built (in the process of doing currently).

I figure I mine as well start getting some stuff figured out so:
I know I want chromoly rings when I rebuild and will be going with a good Fel-pro kit.
I know I want to stay EFI.
Obviously fuel MPGs are the biggest of worries being it is a 460.

So the heads for the engine I have are E7TEs which should be fine. What do you guys think?
What should I bore this to?
Any cheap upgrades I should do to get some power?
Which timing chain do you recommend?

Probably more to come.
