03 Oil Rail O=Rings

I have an 04 with the first 03 6.0. I am replacing a injector & I think acouple of the o ring on the oil rail are shoot. I made a tool & pulled them apart.

So what I am wondering is: I ran up to napa auto part & ask them if the o ring in the high pressure oil rail where a specialo ring. They didnt know. So I picked up 4 new o ring but before I go & put them I wanted to find out if the were a special o ring or what? I mean I dont want to have to pull it back apart again

Thanks for any help

IMO Orings are very hard to get the exact one

I have tried in past an oring that looks close but No Way didnt work

Best bet is to go to Ford and get the right ones or make shure you get the specific ones for your application

so Are orings in the top injectors where the oil rail goes or have you talken the ones that go into the Braided Hose and standpipes

On thing I just thought of is you can run it with the valve covers OFF so you could see if the ones you already have work or not

Technically there are no oil rail o-rings in an 03/log rail style motor. There are D-rings in the top of the injectors. You can get them here: Industrial Diesel Engine Replacement Parts Dealer, Aftermarket Rebuild & Overhaul Kit Systems Supplier The kit your are looking for is AP0002.

I understand what you're talking about now. I didn't even know those nipples were removable or that o-rings for them were available. I'll add this to my learned something new today.

FWIW--those have never been a problem AFAIK.

It actually has to be purchased from an Alliant dealer IIRC anyway, so another reason to use RiffRaff but the OP wants the o-rings where the oil rail nipples are inserted into the log rail if I read it correctly. I wonder if Clay has those???

Ya if you look at where the nipples from the bootpm of the oil rail you will see where you can put a custom tool to turn the inside nut. On the bottom of the nipple is a o ring

I would get the specific o-ring. Ask John Irwin what happens when you get sent the wrong thing. You end up doing it twice IF you don't end up with a catastrophic failure. Is it really worth the little difference in price and time?
