Your giving me too much credit there Randy.

I did learn early about galvanic corrosion. Growing up in a shore town, and my best friend during that time lived with his aunt and uncle who owned one of those hardware stores. The small town kind that had every nut and bolt imaginable, and with a huge part of the inventory being marine based. So the old cranky guy always dealt with people coming in with corrosion issues or buying props and hardware, so head a lot of "you don't want to be doing that". It really was a interesting store with a huge warehouse section in the back that has really neat, with old stuff, kept in inventory for decades. You bought nails out of barrels. New owner who was a dry goods guy bought it when Bailey retired at like 90 and the store was never the same.

With the 7.3, the main reason for installing the filter was SCA delivery and the zinc rod. That motor would eat T/S housings, except mine. It's now in the 6.0 with a new zinc rod after the original one was mostly sacrificed.

Yep, testing coolant age by voltage.

Sub? Nah. I'd be sitting in a inflatable 100 miles off-shore on first deployment hoping for a helo pickup.

And Merry Christmas everyone!!!
It's a smaller town.
If he was on duty then he should not be doing personal work.
If he was picking it up for the Puyallup PD they have a bay that
he can park in. But that dealer has a large staff and can put it
on the truck. On top of things he was pointed head into a very hard
to exit parking lot and to get out fast he would have to do a U-turn.

I also have a lot of former Officers for friends and they all know
my opinion on taking advantage of the job they were in.
Running red lights, speeding when not on a call.

My big gripe is parking in places that do 2 things.
Block people in and block the firetrucks out.
It was a Fire Lane. And it looks that the PD radios
and Fire Dept are not directly accessible to each other.
Puyallup has attitude of the big city that they are not.

Got my lift in Friday. Instructions say 5 hour install time. Probably take me two weeks. I'm going to pull the cab on the 2007 in background. That's the one with no compression on #8. Also got my oil bypass valve in for my 2006 maybe do that mid week. I want to run it and post temps before and after. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Looks like my FICM is going bad. 48-48.5 volts when running, but dips down below 45 volts on start up until the glowplugs kick off.

For once I am ready to do my oil change before the point where the
app I use to track things tells me it due now. I have Delo and a new MC filter.

I would have the batteries cold load tested first. What you are describing doesnt sound like the FICM is at fault.

I'll have them checked again. Tested fine a few months ago and they were made in January this year. This morning the truck started right up but ran rough for about 5 seconds, and FICM was showing 43 volts. When battery voltage started going back up it was back up to 48. About 33 degrees, not plugged in.

cold weather don't help them. I find that my truck starts much easier when plugged in anything 35 degrees and colder.

not saying that's the case because my batteries need replaced soon too.

check your ground connections all of them...

My FICM went out several months ago and I too experienced same issues. From what I was told your FICM should never drop voltage.

I do believe though initial startup it will be slightly lower then jump right back up. I have not used my scanner lately to check but if that's not normal and yours jumps around just bite the bullet and get it fixed.

While your at it just get the Atlas mod done to increase HP. I went with another company aside from ficmrepair.com because money was a factor but for what I paid I got equivlent HP upgrade on mine it wasn't Atlas but rather Viper.

So far I have been very pleased.
