I had thought of the egr, but if that was stuck open it should still miss when cold as well.

I put a new egr on it and its doesn't have a cat anymore. It was getting random codes like circuits open or closed so i took outii the computer and it had two capacitors leaking and one corroded and fell off. I got a computer out of the junk yard put it in now it has no codes but still misses and no smoke. It took me about five minutes to restart the truck. I never felt any clicking on .number 1 injector. Hope thats my problem poor truck has been off the road for about 6 months now

"...doesn't have a cat anymore." Without the Cat you may get faulty readings and info being sent to the computer. There is little to none performance benefit by removing it.

It uses a heated O2sensor that is ahead of the cat, so there should be no diff at all. OBDll is a different ballgame.
I run with an empty cat.

You should be able to identify the missing cylinder(s), by either pulling offf plug wires or shooting the individual exhausts with a IR temp gun. Then you can swap plug, injector etc to help diagnose.
