off topic (almost bought a 2012 Boss Mustang today)

well my dad almost bought a 2012 Boss today. I suppose turning 50 this July has him at that midlife crisis i suppose, and lately he keeps saying he like the Boss Mustang. So he's been calling around and we found one over in PA about twenty five minutes from us. So after work we went over to check it out, him carrying a wad of money in his pocket and we walked in. First response by me, its ****ing ugly! It was normal old Mustang red, with vinyl stickers, onlything i liked was the MOTOR! So after my dad asking questions and me having too answer because the salesmen had no idea about anything, my dad asked, "so what kind of offer should i start at?" i said its nothing special at all, next year ford is re doing the 5.0 in the mustang, offering the boss options in a mustang and Ford Racing is now selling the cams and springs from the Boss so you can make the regular 5.0 a Boss, why dont we go out west find a nice 50's ford truck and redo it? He said ah, walked away and sat down with the salesmen, after an hour he comes up said they cant come to a number. BUT the best part, he agreed to buy a nice 50's Ford truck so we can restore it!!!!! I know its a long stupid story but the ending is freaking awesome!

I would have bought the BOSS....

The reason why the 2013 Shelby now has 650 hp is because the BOSS, which is at least 25k less..would run with the Shelby. I'm a performance enthusiast.....road and strip but a car at 40K that will run with a BMW M3 is pretty stout in my book...

Yea our relationship is nothing more than "hi dad" "O hi son" pause "ok ill see ya later" I was just asked to go because he knows nothing about cars or trucks for that matter. And the salesmen showed us the 2013 Stangs. They will be available with some of the boss options and horsepower will be with 10 of the Boss. My thought is better off saving the money and buying a regular Stang for 15k less

The 2013 will be rolling off the Flat Rock assembly line in a week or two, with production ramping up in March to 2000/week and 2350/week in April.

I'm interested, but the "quad exhaust" is a big turn off to me. One way or the other--out the side OR out the back, not both.

The Boss rocks! And the side exhaust is tuneable to get the right sound for you or whatever track you're at. 10 mins with a 15mm wrench and I can go from quiet to LOUD!

It's cool. The car was designed specifically to beat the M3 around Laguna Seca and it was a blast to take it there in Nov. The engine has a 7500 rpm redline and it's safe up through at least 8300 which is where the factory race cars (that use the same engine) shift. I just need to learn how to drive it faster around the track. My best time was about 13 seconds slower than a pro. 1:53 vs 1:40.

I got a little skittish listening to the upper reaches of its rev limits, kept on saying shift/shift/shift....not knowing it was safe to 8000+.

Wish I had one of my own to play in.
