when i deleted mine, i knew it would void my warranty.. however, my warranty is up in april, i have an early Job 1 08. I drive my truck like i used to .. i dont race it.. i did it mainly for better fuel mileage, no more oil dilution and making oil, and the truck just all around runs better without the DPF. I still change the oil every 5K and my fuel filters every 10K.. so far, no issues, other than leaky radiator hoses, i need to update to the new style connections. i couldn't stand the regens, the trucks performance while regening were horrible, less power, stinky exhaust, and horrible throttle response.

Voiding the warranty is the name of the game. When I deleted my 6.4, it was done to improve reliability.
I think a lot of people do the delete to improve reliability past the warranty period. Its really up to you on what you want to do and what you can get away with. Make sure weigh all of the places you'll take the truck and your own state's attitudes towards these types of modifications. Some places will look the other way more than others...

I sat teetering on the fence for a year before I finally did it, because I was worried it would break and not be covered....the only regret I had after doing it was that I didn't do it sooner. It makes the truck a whole lot nicer to drive not having to worry about never finishing regens on short trips to work and back. Seemed like it never wanted to regen except when I was pulling into my driveway. I just traded mine in, but my Spartan was on there for about 1 year and it paid for itself with fuel savings in that time. I drove it stock for the last week I owned it and it was terrible in comparison.

I was not worried about "Voiding" my warranty. The possibility of having a claim denied due to the tuner was on my mind, but the fact that I couldn't find anyone on here that was tuned and had any repairs denied due to the tuner was probably the biggest deciding factor for me. All in all, it was pretty unanimous that deleting the DPF and eliminating the regens combined with frequent maintenance and regularly peeking under the hood yielded a more reliable truck. Reality is, it appears more likely that you will destroy your HPFP and fuel system by getting bad fuel, which isn't covered by manufacturers warranty anyway. That's purely my $.02.

I bought mine used BECAUSE it was deleted. I had no intentions of having one of these trucks with the terrible fuel consumption, regen hassles, dilution of the lubricating oil... This saved me the inconvenience of having to do it myself to ADD reliability and efficiency. I also get to wave my middle finger to the bureaucrats who foist these stupid regs upon us to make some chicken little third party that has never owned one of these trucks feel better about themselves by making my truck consume 60% more fuel to fix a nonexistent problem.

Seriously though, other than some valvetrain issues that can be loosely attributed to fuel dilution what problems have we seen that have been caused by the regen function?

Don't mean ti hijack the thread, but for those of you who return to stock periodically to drive 'on-road', what's the furthest you've gone deleted with EGR-disabled tunes and not had any sticking EGR valve issues ? Is it really a pervasive problem? I know Spartan cycles the EGR valve at idle, so I assume it's not an issue. What about H&S, DPF-r, and CTS? I assume driving habits might play a role there too...
If popping the EGR valve off and cleaning it was easy, I probably wouldn't be too concerned, but it appears there's a special puller needed to yank it out.
