Question Service Engine Soon light keeps coming on???

I am not sure what to do, my service engine soon light comes on after my truck gets warmed up, about 30-45min down the road and stays on, howvere if I turn the truck off and back on it will stay off for a while.

The truck is acting normal, no bucking, no unusual shifting, engine seems to run smooth? All of the fluids are good in the engine compartment (engine oil, trans oil, brake fluid, power steering, and coolant)

I ran diesel Kleen in it, light still came on.

What should I check next? Scanner at Autozone did not pull up anything.

Any and all help or ideas are greatly appreciated!
I am a little worried I am gonna screw something up
Thanks

I'm betting something to do with the ebpv or map sensor. Where are you, maybe someone will be close with an AE scan tool.

Automotive enginuity scan tool. The auto owners best friend. It will pull all codes set by your truck.

Where can I buy one? How much do they run? I plan on having this truck for a long tim emight be worth the investment. Also do the work for other vehicles or just my 7.3?

Just hooked up an OBD II scanner and if I read it correctly it said there was a misfire. Is that something I need to worry about? What causes a diesel to misfire?

I erased all codes and am gonna pull over and check it again if the light comes on.

What was the code #? You can get an AE scanner from riffraffdiesel.com and they run about 385$ if I remember correctly. It works for what ever make you buy it for.

There wasnt a code number which is why I am not sure if I read it right, It said "Misfire" and then below that "ready" but when I scrolled down through the rest of the menu it said "not applicable to everything else......Wish I had the money for one of those scanners right now.

Its got 167k miles should I just go ahead and replace the EBPV or MAP sensor?

No! Don't just throw parts at it. You'll only waist money that you could have spent on a scan tool or mods.
Give this thread some time or maybe start a new one like "Looking for AE Near Ft Smith" or something like that. I'm sure someone near can help you out or reccomend a reputable shop. We really need those codes to be of much help.
Can you tell us more about your truck and any mods it may have.

Ok...I hate throwing parts at things but this is my daily driver and I cant afford for it to be down. Just drove it to church and everything was fine, get back in it after church and "ABS" light is on, gonna go start looking under it to see if I can find anything. 1/2way home the "S.E.S." light came on, I hooked up my little OBD II scanner and it said no codes read...great so still have the light and still at square one.

It is a stock 2001 F350 Super Duty 4x4, DRW, Crew Cab, 7.3L, Long bed.

Thanks for the input.

Ok so how hard is it to change out the MAP sensor? I have a really good Autozone in my town and they are real good about taking back parts (even after i have installed them if i dont damage them) so I figure if I replace the MAP sensor and thats not it then I can just return it and if for some reason they dont let me I will have a spare one...its only $62 which is worth it to me if it fixes my problem...how do ya'll feel about this?\

THANKS!!!!

Don't let the dealer try to fix it. Just get the code numbers and get back to us. Mst shops here charge $50 to read codes.
