I doubt a new Lightning would cost that much. Maybe 40K tops...Remember, other than going fast the Lightning is a pretty useless truck. I don't mean that in a bad way...I think that Lightnings are bad ***! But the certainly don't have much ''truck'' capability. But yeah, I would expect a new Lightning to priced competitively with the Raptor.

As far as which engine Ford could/would use in a truck like that...Well, there's so many options its really impossible to even speculate at this point. Maybe it would get a truck tuned version of this new 5.8L...Maybe it would get a Supercharged/Turbocharged 5.0L V8, maybe a beefed version of the 6.2L.

Either way I would like to see it make a comeback. Those Lightnings were so potent out of the factory, even the Viper V-10 powered SRT-10 trucks had to go ***** to the wall to beat them...And that was with 120hp more and a 6-speed manual vs the Lightnings 4-speed auto.

Why would you want a manual in a vehicle thats designed to go in a straight line? The auto is just as fast, and more consistant.

And you dont have them long gear throws. (pickup transmissions are not known for there speed because of this. IMO)

short bed/reg cab 6spd Auto with a , Eboost, 5.0 or 6.2 would be great for pavement pounding

Agreed, except I wouldn't roll with an Eboost in that truck...

Personally, I think Ford did exactly what the people wanted with the new Mustang (2005 - 2012). They made a car with modern technology that looks very simimlar to the 1965 - 1968 mustang. Chevy did the same with the camaro when it came back out. Of course Chevy waited to see how well the Mustang sold before remaking the new camaro. They had given up on the Camaro until they saw what a great job Ford did with the Mustang and saw how popular it was.

The Mustang was completely changed when the current body style was introduced. As far as the Camaro is concerned, it's very easy to change a car in that manner when you take it off the market for several years and then reintroduce it. It's much harder to do with a car that's already in production and you're working with an existing design. You run the risk of alienating your buyers if changes are seen as too radical.

And with regard to Ford posting up sketches on forums goes, that's risky in itself. You get a lot of wannabes that vote for whatever they like with no intention of ever buying one. Not to mention all of the trolls that would come over from other forums like Chevy, Dodge, etc. that would just love to sabotage a poll like that.

I appreciate the thumbs -up John. I bought the first 2005 Mustang convertible that came out. Still have it with over 125000 miles.

i see your point on the poll, but it still wouldnt hurt anyones feelings none if they made sketches and posted them around, take peoples opinions into mind when they make a new model. see what the people want.

They should have bored and stroked the 5.0 not the very long stroked 5.4L, but that's just my humble opinion. That 4.17" stroke is a lot of rod slinging @ 6500rpm!! He heck, the 460 only had a 3.85' stroke

New mustang front end looks like the new Camaro front end, LAME and boring, 2005 Model looks 100% Better

Not to mention the new mustang exhaust sounds like a Boat Water Pump !

Thought maybe it was a de-stroked 6.2L, I agree that is getting kind of ridiculous for a 5.4L base. IIRc they kept the same bore spacing on all the post 2V 5.4L's so there isn't much room to bore it. Didn't know there was that much stroke to be had and keep it reliable.

Agreed. The 5.4l already has a ton of traction issues with all that power down so low in the RPM range....

why not add even more stroke so it can really grease them tires up off idle...ha

seriously though, the 5.4l was in no need of more stroke. I was hoping that they changed the bore spacing of the block to allow for more overbore....shucks.

I'm not sure about the comments about 4th and 5th generation Camaro being compared to the Mustang. The body style that had been around since 2005 is just as different than the SN95 and New Edge body style.

I agree that the last year or two of the Mustang are unappealing. So is the new Camaro.

I also do not care much for anything being made today. That goes for style and drivetrain.
