Do Stage 1's make the engine run rich ?

I love my tune, my power, the way it idles, etc etc etc. So far stage 1's are terrific. But its smokey in the morning, stinky like raw fuel. NO fuel leaks. When I am on 120 race or 140 street tune. She sure smells ripe and when i stay in it, On the freeway it will start to pump out black smoke while I am hammering it then i usually let up a bit. Plus when i am "teasing" the cars that want to continuously cut me off before the next stop light (which they can't do anymore ) Then i pull up to the light. It will idle like its got a huge cam. Bloop, Bloop, Bloop, Bloop. I personally love the sound but it sure seems ripe and stinky. I'm not too sure whats controlling my air/fuel mixture unless its my php chip. If i knew how to AE this while driving and record or save it. I'd post some numbers but I don't know how.
A few specs are
fuel pressure 67psi with the pedal down
boost is between 26 and 32
Wicked wheel
4" exhaust, no muffler
Its a 14' Cube Van = So no intercooler
Tranny temp about 110 to 145
EGT's on 120 race are about 1100 to 1400 with the pedal down

I have similar experiences with singles. They seem to be prone to "fuel loading" at idle. I don't get the "big cam" idle anymore since adjustments were made to my ICP.

Does this clear up when the engine comes up to temp? I know DP Tuners recommends starting in stock tune and not going to another tune till the engine is warm. Dunno if PHP says the same thing or not.

Sound to me like your tuning needs some tweaking, or you ar not getting air into the engine for the fuel you've added! Bigger turbo or shorten up the fuel some? How are your egt's let the pistons live much longer! Your really pushing it at 1400!

I have to add that mine only smokes slightly at idle when cold or extended idle, then puffs when accelerating, when the EGTs are below 300*. I feel that it's no big deal considering the temperature. I never noticed these conditions with the stock injectors and may be due to watching things more closely after mods were made.

I was live tuned this year and asked Jody about this. Not sure on any old tunes but the newer tunes are set so the timing is not as aggressive till it gets up to temp. Probably around 160-170. Jody said I could start and shut down in any tune, no problems.

is that if started in all tunes? including mod stock? or just in the higher tunes?
