I want to see an Ecoboost race a 5.7L Tundra. For all acountable reasons, the 5.7L Tundra was the top dog engine until Ford relesed its new lineup in 2011. I would count the 6.2L in the GM trucks, but I don't because GM limits their production to about 15% of total truck sales, as does Ford with their own 6.2L powered 1/2 ton.
The 5.0L will run right there with the Tundra, I know the one in my FX4 is a hot mother...But According to the most recent 1/2 ton shootout by Pickuptrucks.com the 5.0L powered F-150 actually out ran the 5.7L Tundra to 60mph and threw the 1/4 mile but the 5.0L was a regular cab vs a heavier extended cab Tundra.
It seem's as though no one's really compared a comparibly equipped Ecoboost vs a comaparibly equipped Tundra.

This is how the story plays out in a nut shell......pre Ecoboost and 5.0L motors in the F150....anything on Youtube was a shame...quote"you do not buy a truck to race..buy a Mustang... , you buy a truck to haul".
Ok......which is fine and dandy....only until 2011 and Ford has the Ecoboost and 5.0L.....leg humpers...REJOICE!
Don't get me wrong...I'm a Ford guy but Ford could have played this game 3-5 years ago....seeing your truck market is your bread and butter...lets sugar coat it like everyone else was 5 years ago.
Could have made some money?

Im not sure about the long term durability of turbos on a gasoline engine powering a truck. If they dont hold up it could be embarrassing for Ford.
Due to the fundamental difference in how they work (highly variable A/F ratio), Diesels generally have lower EGT's so turbochargers last.
