cylinder head id. F.E.

i have a pair of heads i dug out of the garage attic and i have no clue what i took them off of.It's been 30 yrs since i seen these heads and the only casting numbers on them are a set of numbers next to the center spark plugs 6090 and on the inside next to rockers5H26 or 8, single exhaust bolt pattern.Intake valves 2.08 or 2.09 and exhaust is 1.64 or 1.65 and ports are roughly 1.29x1.85 and intake is 1.33x2.35 any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,Craig

Should be a "C4AE" or "D2TE" or similar alpha-numeric on them.

'60s head info:

More of the same:

Items 4 & 5 where to find the casting numbers:

The interesting thing here are the larger 427/428CJ sized valves 2.09 and 1.65. Like 85e said if you can post the first 4 characters and the last letter after the 6090 it'll help. Or some pics. Could be the making of a nice set of heads you have there. If the 5H26 is the right date code that's 1965/August/26th. Where in Mass are you? I travel to Cape Cod every month or so.

heads ?

I live over hear in Douglas,ma.Close to the Thompson Speedway in Putnam,CT.The thing about these heads is there is no code next to the 6090 it's smooth where the code should be?? The ports are untouched the chamber is not machined i pulled a couple of valves out and nobody has been in there and i miked the valves and they are 2.09 and 1.6574 and there is no 3 angle valve job.Like i said i haven't seen these heads in thirty yrs and i forgot what they came off of.

I've put CJ valves in C1ae heads... that doesn't make them CJ heads.

So have I, but you don't usually find "6090" on "regular" heads

6090 is the basic casting number for a cylinder head. Casting numbers are foundry marks, cannot be cross referenced to Ford part numbers.

6049 is the basic part number for a cylinder head.

C3AZ-6505-E .. Exhaust Valve-1.66" / 1962/63 406 / 1963/68 427.

C90Z-6507-U (replaced C3AZ-6507-J) .. Intake Valve-2.09" / 1962/63 406 / 1963/68 427 / 1968/70 CJ; S/CJ.

C90Z-6505-N .. Exhaust Valve-1.65" / 1968/70 428 CJ; S/CJ.

I guess I was wrong, but I thought any heads for the FE that actually had the 6090 on them weren't "regular" heads.

Of course, without a complete casting number from the OP's heads, who knows what they are.

Isn't the valve spacing different on the 427 heads?

Just a thought...

Not on the lowriser 427 heads. But on the HR, MR and TP yes there's a wider valve spacing.

I have c4ae 6090g heads on my 65' galaxie with a 390, and im 99% positive thats what they came from the factory with. I havent had them off to measure the valves on them yet. Could his possibly be the same and someone put bigger valves in back in the day? Think about how many galaxies and thunderbirds they built, its possible. The odd thing to me is that the prefix is missing but no signs of major reworking. On my heads the part number is stamped into 2 tags that are each screwed onto the head with flat head screws. Very possible they just got lost.
