Fuel in coolant!

Checked the reservoir today and found fuel in the coolant! Is this safe to drive on? I know it's either the cups or head, what have you guys paid for replacements on cups? I'm praying it's not the heads!

How far can you drive when it's like this?

I really couldn't say, I don't have enough experience with that problem. Someone else should chime in.

Just wanted to get you that info on the injector cups. Jim is a great guy to work with and has really fast service. Plus he's our forum sponsor!

I wouldn't drive it with fuel in the coolant. That's just me. It's most likely the injector cups that are the problem though, especially if you don't keep up your SCAs.

Thanks for the tip. I'll definitely be looking into it. I'm just 200 miles from home and not really wanting to risk anything.

You would probably make it, I just wouldn't try it if it were my truck. How much fuel are you talking? Like over filling the degas bottle?

Ehh, 200 miles huh? That's a toss up. I mean theoretically the fuel system will always have more pressure in it than the coolant system, so you won't end up with coolant in the fuel or in the cylinder, but I don't know what all that fuel in the coolant will do to your coolant system.

That's a tough one.

Good luck with that decision. Just out of curiosity, where are you located/headed?

That's what I'm wondering. Might eat up the cooler o-rings or damage the water pump???

Southern Utah. Leaning toward not driving it and just fixing it.

You could call Jim and see what the lead time on getting it to you would be. I'm sure he would do everything he can to get it to you in a timely manner.

edit: I guess there is no number on his site. Looks like you 'll have to email him.
