If you have a NP205 and lock in lock out hubs you could 'Lincoln Lock' or Spool the front which would keep it locked and wouldn't give you any troubles normal driving as long as your t-case was in 2WD and your front hubs unlocked. But when you lock them in you may have a time trying to steer and you may break axles if your not into all the correct 'approaches' your spouse to do when wheeling you may have problems.

You can get a spool for like 100 bucks or so for a D44, or if you or a buddy can weld, weld your spider gears together and you got a locker for just the money in electricity to run the welder and the sticks you use.

By doing the locked front you could then just do a manual locker in the back. I am not a off road guy so I dont know much but I been thinking about maybe putting a locker in my D80 rear and a LSD in my Front. Hope I was able to shed some light.

If your mechanically inclined at all I'd suggest buying the simple tools needed for gear install like
Vernier caliper
Bearing remover
3 jaw puller
Mag base dial indicator
And possibly an inch pound torque wrench to measure bearing preload.( I now tend to just go by feel now as I've done about 5 gear setups)
Have no idea what I'm talking about?..

Save the $ on install and get the locker you really want. If you get real serious a case spreader can open your diff to allow more shim pack and better side bearing preload. Had to go this route on my ARB front locker for tight fit. I made one

Steering sucks after a spool or welding the front. You will hate it.
