GOOD MORNING!!
Good Morning!
Happy National Zipper Day!
I took yesterday off to do some electrical work and ground leveling for a pool that is going in the back yard. I should have told my wife no pool.. I am kind of regretting all of the work and preparation this is taking. Its making me tired, blistered hands, sore back and neck, and so far all this work an very little pay-off.
I have my little 9 year old cheerleader though! She is quite the opposite of help, in fact, I have to remind her constantly that I am working toward a goal, which will get us closer to getting the pool up, but she thinks of something she wants to do, or show me, or something that will only take 5 minutes here, or 15 minutes there.. that has nothing to do with the project I am working on. I keep asking "If I go help you with this, or do this for you, or with you, is it speeding the process up? or Slowing Me Down?" Then she thinks about it for a bit, and realizes that it doesn't get her closer to swimming in the pool, so drops it. I wish I could stop and spend that time with her for all of her cute little requests, and desires, but every second that I am working on it, she asks.. "How much longer?" Luckily its been too cold or conditions not right for swimming yet.

I'm kinda lucky I actually have a real helper (when she wants to)--- or she can see that she is bother me she leaves and does something else :-)-- although there is those occasions where she is helping and her mind fixates on something else (like playing with her cat) so I have to remind her that work first play later :-)
Yeah, I don't remember much about that age.
Sophia keeps asking can I help, while she is standing directly in my way. To take a teaching moment, I show her what I am doing and let her try, then she immediately realizes that there is no way she can do what I am doing, and then goes back to what she was doing. I am glad she wants to help, and puts in "some" effort, but she probably cost me a good two extra hours of project work over the two days that I was working on it. That being said, it was two hours that I wouldn't change for the world, because I love the time she spends with me.

When calista was littler I gave her little tasks that I thought she could do-- No she can do all sorts of things and can be a real good helper. I try not to give her a task that I have to wait on her to finish-- because then I get impatient :-) -- Now she would rather play on her phone then work in the garage-- I don't blame her-- but she still helps when told to.
Yeah, Sophia wants to help in the worst way, but she isn't strong enough to do the tasks we are doing, and/or doesn't see the value in doing the little projects that I assign her, because in her 9 year old brain, that doesn't seem like its helping the project move any faster. I get it, I was like that when I was little, but she was more in the way, than help. However at least she was trying, and involved, and I appreciate that.
Good Morning!!!!!
