The only reason (other than the look,) for larger rims is so you can put larger brakes on the truck. I don't think that the rubber band tire look is good on a truck.

I thought my 18 inchers were an unreasonable cost.

I don't like the rubber band tire look either, that is why I am going with larger tire. My stock tires are 275/55R20, I am looking at 275/60r20s or maybe 65R20s. I don't think I could afford anything larger than that..

Federal M/T

I have had these Federal M/T since December. They are a nice looking tire and they handle great.

The 275/60/20 will fit perfectly on the stock truck. I just recently went that route back in December.

The 275/65/20 will need a leveling kit as this tire is nearly 35" tall.

Adding to the last post, the FX$ came standard with 17" rims, while the Lariat and KR came with 18" rims. All three had the 20" rim as an option.

Thank you for the post Looks like 275/60/20 tires will be my best bet.

I'm running a set of Destination A/Ts on my 04 4x4 and really like 'em a lot. They are much better than the stock Hankook that they replaced. The stock size was 235/75R17 for $564 M&B with Road Hazard included.

I going with the Cooper AT3. They look nice and are getting really good reviews. As far as the 20" verses 18" prices. The 20's are 825$ on the truck compared to 1100$ for 18's. I guess it depends on the zip code.

If money isnt an option... you really cant go wrong with a good set of Michelins or Goodyears. BFGoodrich and Hankook are also great tires imo... and usually dont break the bank as much. Some of your higher end tires do have mileage warranties on them though, if you rotate/balance @ specific mileages and be sure to save the paper work as some places wont honor the warranty unless you have the paperwork to back it up.

2 weeks ago i put the leveling kit on. Last Tuesday i put the Michelins on, LT275X65R20 LTX AT2. So far so good , but only about 100 kilometers on them so far, and they were 20 bucks cheaper than the BFGAT's I wanted. They are a 34.1 in. tall tire and with the 3.73's in the diffs it turns 1675 rpm at 105 kph which is 75 rpm slower than the 275 60r20 procomps they replaced. The pro comps were all terrains and had a few miles on them when i got the truck last year and the couple snows we got last year before I put the steelies on i usually put it in 4x4 at takeoff and then back to 2wd because of wheel spin. Now the front end alignment.
ps. I haven't done the alignment yet but the truck runs straight as a die down the road but it is going in. Ill report back in a few weeks after ive run them awhile.
