Yep, I can’t remember his name now, (I’m old) but he was from Vancouver Island, single parent with a young son, did beautiful work, widened the cab to I think, and only took him two and a half years.

Of course it is your truck and you can do what you want, but it seems like you are going to a lot of effort to reinvent the wheel. I know you have the CV and want to do this modification, and with enough time and money you can do anything, but is this the best utilization of either? Widening fenders to accommodate a cross-member transplant that is too wide to start with when easier solutions are available (Jag or MII.) seems like making something moderately simple quite complicated. Sorry.

(Is that OK Daytona f1?)

Well, i agree with you old f1 theres no reason to reinvent the wheel, and with this crossmember transplant there is no reason to do that. I am shootig for that modern, wheels tucked up under look for my truck and this setup gives me that for 225.00 instead of 2500.00 for a mustang II . If you want to run wheels with alot of dish then this setup is not for you. To me this is something you need to decide before ever starting a project. I love both both looks but this one works for me,just my opinion.

All the above achieved with no fender widening

I'm thinking of doing this mod on one of my chassis's

at the local police auction there are 2003, 2006 and a 2008 CV I can choose from. any reason for one or the other?

the 08 one is removed from the chassis already.. rear of the car destroyed.

I can pick these up for around $100..

Looks great!Fat Fendered can you post more pics? I have a 54 Merc M100 that I'm try to sort out. I bought a cross member from Paul Horton, but a mustang II is big bucks. I have a 85 CV with a 351w and auto that I plan on putting in the truck. I need to get something rolling here quick. Thanks

Sometime in there ford switched from using aluminum lower control arms to stamped steel ones, but it doesnt affect any measurements or anything, that i know of. I would just look for the one with the lowest miles. Here in kentucky these cars take a beating. A hundred bucks sounds cheap enough.

It's from thier Welder Series 56''. I haven't mounted it yet, still in the planning and parts searching program. I changed the rear diff to 8.8 with 3.73 gears and disc brakes out of an Explorer. my truck is basically nothing more than a shell. thanks

Move forward about 1 1/2"

The word is that you need about 1 1/2" forward to center. Look at the suspension section of the Mid-Fifty catalog. They have springs that will center the original axle. I'm in the middle of a CV install myself. I'm 1 1/2 forward. I'll know if it's right when the body and fenders go back on.
