2011 Motor Trend TOTY

2011 Motor Trend Truck Of The Year: Chevrolet Silverado HD - Motor Trend

Are these guys kidding? Not that he Chevy is a bad truck but just five years ago the HD segment of light trucks never got the nod for the TOTY award. Now, two in a row have received it and the Super Duty has been snubbed all these years.

What happened to all the lame excuses of the past such as harsh ride, excessive fuel consumption, ride height, etc?!

Its been known for years that Motor Trend rewards companies that buy the most ads the previous year. Way back they just went for the most innovative design, often a fail in the long run, Corvair, Tempest, Rambler, Vega, SM, Mustang II, Citation, Alliance, Probe.

They lost all credibility when they selected the Volt as Car of the Year, then proceded to write an article slamming anyone who disagreed with that decision.

how about a few years ago when they said the honda ridgeline was the best truck??
are you freakin kidding? that is a glorified go cart, not a truck.
but honda wanted the award, and paid for it. so they became the best truck.
it has nothing to do with best. it is all about who pays the most for the trophy. ford don't need to pay for the award. people know ford builds the best truck, and don't need a stupid magazine to tell them that.

Honestly as far as I can tell, whatever particular vehicle has the most changes for a model year instantly becomes "____ of the year" regardless of whether or not it's better than everything else in that segment. It's a joke really.

Then that should have been the superduty. Two new engines, new transmission, highest towing and payload in it's class, largest selection of trim levels and performance levels, new front fascia, e-locking rear axle, etc.

It is a joke.

I agree and I mean c'mon how could they pick against 400HP/800lb-ft ...800!!

800! lol sorry but every time I think about it having that much torque it blows my mind.

I think all of those magazines are pointless anyway mainly because everything they print I have already read on the internet a month earlier.

Funny you say that because every new edition of truck trend is like a re-read on FTE.

kinda like petersens 4wheel and off road mag would always praise whatever truck toyota made including that lemon t-100 and why did they always do that? all you had to do was open the center fold of the mag and see who bought that spot in every issue.

lost all credibility with me!

Was the SD exterior a redesign for '11? I didn't know if they had introduced the "new-new" body style this year or in '10.

Probably because the Silverado easily beat the Super Duty in every towing test they did.

I think the TOTY is like a mood swing or a menstrual cycle.
