i like the concept of the mahindra pickup, dont know how well they will work out, or if they will even ever come here, but the prospect of a compact diesel truck intrests me. but im still driving my old '93 and will likely continue until theres nothing left...and buy another TTB ranger. no newer than a '97.

I really despise the electronic throttle on all the new vehicles. The engine's reactions seem to feel disconnected from your foot. The driving experience sucks compared to a vehicle with a cabled throttle. I'm going to try to keep my 2004 s long as I can.

I use the Ranger 90% of the time, the F-250......only for the HEAVY work.
Lots of folks I know do the same, and could not get by using the monster for all the light jobs.
Killing the Ranger is a mistake, it was a winner.......besides everybody needs a destroyer escort for their battleship!

What i think ill do is drive the wheels off my 01, and in time(mostly money) ill end up buyin a diesel(maybe cummins dont judge me haha but probally ford). Just use the ranger as a daily driver, and my diesel as my farm/ranch pickup.

I use my Ranger the same way. If I have heavy towing to do I use the F250. When my little truck wears out I'll get a f150.

I have an 02 with 137000 miles.I really dont want a full size f150 but thats probably what I wil check into.I just dont believe the fuel economy ratings that are on window stickers. They say that a new f150 4x4 with 5.0 (19 MPG hwy) will get the same mileage on the highway as a new 4.0 ext cab 4x4 ranger, even the 2010 5.4 f150 says 18mpg highway which is only 1 mpg worse than the ranger. Is this really true?

You should be able to get a solid 21 from a 4x2 Ranger.

no new Ranger?

I just joined, had not heard that. I gave a 1999 2wheel drivr Super cab 3.0 V6 5 speed manual work truck and a 2000 Ranger 4door Super cab 4x4 3.0. Selling both, getting a 2006 Ranger 4x4 Super cab 4.0 V6 ,62,000 miles next week. If no new Rangers, Nissan or V8 Colorado or F150 with the new V6 would be my guess...........Hi guys!

check the manual trans in that 4x4 2006 Ranger for having the fluid changed at 60,000 per the scheduled maintanence. If it is a manual trans, other wise look to change the fluid in the auto around 100,000, for normal service of course.

This is the very reason these companies get in trouble with money. Most built now-a-days is built to throw a way. Some are very hard to service and very user friendly. One would think once they found something good stick with it unless it is made better.

I have been driving rangers for 20 years or better. I currently have a 92 2.3 I picked up for 500. just to have a older truck to use on the farm. Back in 03 I bought a 01 ranger with a 3.0 with 24,000 miles and last year bought a 2000 with 50,000 miles for a daliy. The 01 currently has 250,000 miles with a transmission change, lesson learned about pulling a trailer while it's in od. The 2000 has 88,000 and plan to run the wheels off it. I really would like to stay with American made stuff, but they are farming a lot of stuff out that comes from across the big pond. We cannot even cast a engine anymore.

The real opportunity is; It's not going to get better.

Ford is making a big mistake not bringing out the new Ranger to compete with the Tacoma in the U.S. I really can not see the small pick-up market as dead. The new Ranger is the answer in the U.S. By the time they figure it out they are going to be playing catch up. Ford get your head out of your a$$ and bring back the Excursion and new Ranger. Not everyone wants a crossover.
