So... why not just unplug it and determine what stopped working- then you will know what the relay is.

I'll look this morning when I get home from taking my wife to work and see if I have the same thing in my 04 and see if I can figure out what it is. Worst case I'll get the part # and see what the parts book calls it.

cool thanks !!
you can see it if you take off the panel under the steering wheel ( like you were going after a fuse ) anyway take it off and lay down on floor look up toward the AC control area below radio kind of close to the floor ( its above or off floor but right behind the panel that would hold the drink cup holder area ) does that make sence ?
lloks like a relay but a lot wider

Damn......I had one of those old age brain farts and forgot. I'll go do it now. At least it's above freezing and not snowing yet--LOL.

I took my radio out and looked down at what I think it is and all I can tell is that there are a lot of wires plugged in there that all go through or into the firewall. I have no idea what it is. I didn't see anything that looked like a relay but it is very difficult to see.

I did find out why my drivers side heat wasn't working correctly though.

still need info/help

ok , more info it is now clicking sometimes when key is off and found that when it does click or chatter when key is off and door on truck is open ( should kill all power in cab , which it does but ) I can turn on my blinker and get it to flash once or twice when it is in this condtion so now i am thinking that this has something to do with the relay or switch that lets you turn off your truck and still listen to the radio , etc for ten mins before it down powers cab. so what is this item called ????

@chadjones99 Did you figure out what this came from? I may be having a similar issue?

Yes , but that was a few years ago so not sure now. Plus I sold that truck I remember opening that box and there's a relay or two inside I just replaced them and I think the issue went away also I think I remember replacing the blinker **** off the steering wheel about the same time

On my 05 the relay would click at random times whether the key was on or off. What I found was inside the multi- switch (turn signal switch) broke internally and held one of the contacts closed. Replaced the switch and cured it. Got the switch the cheapest @ Advance Auto using promo code trt30.

See below. I'm pointing to the broken piece with a screwdriver.

In this pic I'm pointing to where the piece came from.

Thanks, I am picking up a relay tomorrow and will find out if that changes anything. Multifunction switch looks to be about $120 +tax from Horizonpartsguy.com. I have only heard the clicking while key off Engine off, key out of ignition, once key is on clicking goes away.

IIRC EP27L from Napa is what I use. It plays well with LED lighting if you ever swap out.

Installed relay from Ford. Definitely go through the radio hole. If you have a long skinny arm you could get through the ash tray slot or trash hook but the cover is a little stiff back there.
