Tennessee Seniors Make Cool Calendar to Welcome Ford Blue Oval City to Town
Ford Blue Oval City aims to revitalize an area that’s been down for years, and these folks are rather happy about it.
Last year, Ford announced a massive multi-billion dollar investment in Tennessee and Kentucky known as Ford Blue Oval City, a sprawling complex that will eventually build both EV batteries and the vehicles they power. This was obviously big news for some small communities in the area that are sorely lacking good-paying jobs, including the home of Ford Blue Oval City, Haywood County, Tennessee. It seems that at least a few residents in the area are happy about Ford’s decision to invest in the area too, including the Blue Oval-loving folks at Sugar Creek Senior Living Community, an assisted living facility in Brownsville, Tennessee.
Each year, the senior center puts out a calendar starring its residents, and each year, they pick a different theme. This year, that theme was pretty obvious, as Blue Oval City is the biggest thing to happen to this area in many years, or perhaps ever. “Everybody’s talking about BlueOval City coming to town,” said Diane Hooper, executive director of the Sugar Creek Senior Living Community. “It’s a big deal.”
Hooper is a big Ford fan herself, along with many residents of Brownsville, so finding a handful of cool vehicles to star in the calendar wasn’t difficult. “We’re a Ford family, she said. “Have been for years. My husband has several older Ford pickups that he restores. He finds them from different people, works on them, and gets them running. “I’m also thankful for all the Ford owners who were so gracious to bring us their vehicles or allow us to come to their shops. They were so nice to do that.”
The calendar features a number of cool vintage rides, including a 1990s Ford F-150, a 2000 F-150 SVT Lightning, and a 1961 Galaxie convertible, to name a few. Those vehicles are joined by 15 different Sugar Creek residents, all donning their Blue Oval attire, clearly excited about the newest addition to their small town.
This made me smile today. The residents of the Sugar Creek Senior Living Community in Brownsville, TN put together a “Welcome Ford” calendar featuring pictures with classic Ford’s. Love it! Glad that @Ford‘s #BlueOvalCity will be a part of the West Tennessee community.💙🛻 pic.twitter.com/E5sV987GMg

“They had a lot of fun,” Hooper said. “It brought back memories for them seeing those vehicles, and they were tickled to be in the calendar. The people were waiting to see if we were going to be chosen (by Ford). We’re excited about the growth it will bring to our town and the surrounding area and job opportunities for people.”
